  1. The book says to use a high quality machine oil , what would be the best choice ? Also what would be the best grease to use on the cam wheels .. Im sure I will have more questions , but right now I am working on getting her all cleaned up and lubed , not to mention a complete rewiring .. Thanks in advance
  2. I just picked one up for a pretty good price as well , it looks rough but seems ok mechanically , its on an old USM table . This link might help http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/111W152_W153_W154_W155.pdf
  3. Just double checking , I didn't want you to get one thing thinking it was something else , the 220v motors they have on their machines are 3 phase which is normally only available in commercial buildings , its not the same as what is on household dryers , welders ect. its 3 hot wires a neutral and a ground. you can run a phase converter but they cost more than a servo motor .
  4. Chances are that the 220 is a 3 phase motor which is a problem unless you are in a commercial building . House current is single phase . I sent you a PM also .
  5. Hope this helps http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/16-133_CLASS_16.pdf
  6. Yes his post were very helpful , it was funny many of my Google searches brought me right back here .
  7. LOL , I figured when I said that about reverse that it was probably to much of a blanket statement . I did a ton of research and was looking at the 111s based on the recommendation of a guy in NC and my own research , but considering that this is all new to me I figured that having reverse would make life easier . None of the 111s that I was finding had reverse . I called Bob and he was nice enough to spend quit a bit of time on the phone with me answering all kinds of questions . I was looking for a machine that I could do tactical (Nylon ) on and some leather , so based on what he said and reading until my eyes were about to bleed I bought a Consew 206RB , I also got a good deal on a PFAFF 145 that was on the way so now I have both of those . I need to call Bob next week to order a servo motor . I had the asme question about adding reverse and the answer is no (from what I was told ) It is done inside the machine , you cant just reverse the motor which is what I was thinking about doing . Hope this was of some help . I have thought about doing a post , sort of a questions and answer thing from the clueless point of view , I spent a lot of time looking for basic info that would be a no brainer for those people that have been doing this for years . I am very mechanical and was surprised at how long it took me to find answers to specific questions , even some of the basic terms took a while to find sometimes , for example everyone talks about walking foot machines but if you look at the Singer chart they call them alternating presser feet , so I was asking myself is that the same thing ? After I found a video and saw how they worked it made perfect sense . Now that I have a machine in my hands I know that I could tear it down and put it back together no problem , I would need help with some of the finer points like adjustments but overall they seem pretty simple but its always what you don't know that gets you ...LOL If I did the post I would be relying on those minds greater than mine to correct anything that I got wrong and to fill in the blanks that I don't have answers to yet . Any opinions ? Would it be worth while or a waste of bandwidth to try something like that ? I see many of the same questions asked time and time again so I thought it might be good to have a thread with basic answers . Sorry for rambling on Stanly this might be of some help . http://www.industrialsewmachine.com/webdoc1/used/used-brochures/111w.htm
  8. I don't think any of the 111/211 machines have reverse , I was told that the 211s are harder to find parts for , also make sure you research specific machines before you buy because not all 111s are walking foot . Where are you located ?
  9. Im going to be down that way next week , if you still have it Im interested . Shoot me a PM and I will give you my #
  10. I think worst case could be a bit more than that , I am just a bit concerned that IF someone went to all the trouble of remarking it with a different name and model # that it might need a complete rebuild and it seems like parts for the PAFF are a bit on the high side . This is all new to me so I am being a bit cautious . I have done a ton of research on machines and Bob was kind enough to stay on the phone with me the other day while I asked him about several machines I was looking at . I don't really know the values on each brand so I have been basing value on what I have seen machines of the same type go for . Thanks for the input She was asking $400.00 but I told her I would willing to go $200.00 to $300.00 she didn't even blink so we will see what happens , I think she just wants to get rid of it . Dam Bob , guess I might need to order 2 servos .
  11. Hi Bob , I think I might be able to get it for about $200.00 or maybe a little more , do you think it is worth it ? I have not seen it in person , its about an hour or so away , I just called her and she is at work , I asked her to send some better pics . She is stating the it says Juki on the front and what she gave me the # on the plate . She also says the she bought it and never used it but Im not sure she is being truthful , Im going to take a guess and say it might have some problems , I will try it before I give her any money but its still an hour ride if I go check it out . I also cant help but wonder if someone pulled something over on her . I will look those models up . Thanks again Bob
  12. LOL , I kept asking her for the model # and she sent me an email saying "the serial # is ddl-8500 " which I thought she got off the plate on the front , Thanks for the response Art
  13. This machine is listed for sale but the woman that has it has less of a clue than I do LOL It has a Consew motor on it but she said the model # was DDL-8500 which I know is a Juki model # , Im sure it has been pieced together but is the head worth messing with , I was looking at it as a 2nd machine to use with 1000D cordura nylon . Thanks everyone .
  14. Thanks Bob .
  15. I have done a ton of searching and don't see much of a difference between the following machines except for clearance under the foot . Also on the 111 and 211 , do they feed with the needle as well as the walking foot .? The specific models I am looking at are below , I was also looking at a 111W151 but as far as I can determine it is not a walking foot ? Thanks for your help . 111W153 211G155 211G165
