I was asked if I could make a holster with a thumb break and I said I guess, if you dont mind being my first. When I was given the gun it was in the holster pictured here. It is extremely awkward to engage and Most pics I see have it across the slide. Is this one just an odd ball? I am going to order the stiffener and snap cover and build it into an avenger for a ruger SR9. Any pics or tips would sure be appreciated.

Best Blue Guns To Start With?
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
thats helpful ...thanks...... While that list is what I am looking for...........the other thing is...for exmaple, I have a glock 19. From that one gun I can make a glock 26, 22 and probably more. I guess I am looking for my first blue guns to pull double duty if not tripple ect -
In the near future I want to purchase a couple of blue guns. I will list below what I can currently build for. What I am looking for is the blue gun purchase that I could offer the most holster with. I assume the longest barrel of a model and shorter models can be built off of it, but also curious what would be the most common request and then if that blue gun could be used for anything else. Just wanting to maximize the effectiveness of dollars spent as I get started up. 1911 (most variants) ----Glock (most models)---Springfield XDM and XD----Bersa BP9CC---Taurus PT640----Taurus TCP 380 ---CZ75B--- SigP938 And it is my assumption that if I get a request for a holster for a popular gun it is a good investment to just order the blue gun and have it for future................it just takes knowing what the most popular models are. Example I have a request for an XDS and I would think that would be a popular holster model in the future.

they are hand stitched but I will be machine stitching as soon as it arrives next week hopefully. T-nut screws. They do allow you to lock it down pretty tight. By design the swivel is a benefit as it allows to maneuver for so many carry positions. But admittedly when worn behind the hip it can walk some, -
What's Your Process For Dyeing?
cleanview replied to keithpip's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Here is my method and I would welcome comments if there is something wrong with it. My most used colors are angelus brandy and coffer 10% dye 90% alcohol. I use a dobber and put it on thick, over and over and It turns out good, This process came out of frustration with colors coming out too dark and trying to dobb sparingly never came out good. I airbush accents but dont like the thin coat from an airbrush for the main color. -
Need some opinions on the work here. I am happy with it This is my write up on it (copy and pasted) Can be worn in just about any position. Best suited for appendix carry but works any where on the belt and the cant is adjustable as the clip swivels. Moving the clip up and down plays with the grip purchase in different positions. This holster is not a flat back holster. That means that to some degree the form of the gun is felt against the body.

Had to get the funds together for it (dont do credit) and that kind of hurt. But am sure it will be money well spent, just glad I was able to. There have been too many times in my life that I could not rub 2 nickels together let alone pony up for a machine. By some strange yet suspicious circumstance time got a little better around the time that the birds left the nest. Go figure

Pics Of The Previous Inlay Question
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
it stayed dark. the holster was for my son. Based on what I have read the foam was probably the problem. Next one I do plan not use foam.......maybey leather, if anything. .....then sponge wet for forming ..........but have no clue if I should seal as usual with 50/50 acrylic resolene or not???? -
Reinforcing Mouth Of Iwb Holster
cleanview replied to asbandr's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
At first glance I started to respond with the standard arguments in contrary to yours.......after reading it with patience and thinking about it you have a very valid point.........but then again I dont even know what two handed reholstering is..... -
Pics Of The Previous Inlay Question
cleanview replied to cleanview's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
the foam was someting I read somewhere and sounded good......makes sense that there could have been some reaction.........people really liked how it turned out so I cant wait for them to see one that actually looks like an alligator ......and this holster was a freebie for my son...he will be allright..........I cant wait to try another one and it seems like the cutout leather piece trimmed a bit would be good behind it and then sponge it for forming instead of dunk......but as I type I am thinking ...if moisture is a problem for the exotic then sealing has a very similar effect ????? HMMMM there is always something -
Well ....ordered the 3200 yesterday from Bob at toledo...........I have never ordered a palatalized shipment before so no clue what to expect. He told me there were several machines ahead of me and yes the totally set everything up check tighten and oil the unit and test and set up each machine. Since I dont have a clue what I am doing and sense that there is a time of frustration coming to me as I learn this, it seems priceless to have the machine already set up. anyhow 7-10 days they will ship and 3-5 in shipping (thats amazing to me) Now I dont want to build anything past the sewing stage

Being as I am a hobby builder......before work.....after work.......after supper.....just before bed........when I cant sleep......ect ect. I have found it easy to make mistakes if I sit down to "get this done right quick" .......in the very begining I would spend forever just trying to remember what the next step was......with repetition that is not as frustrating any more ......Now I am just getting to where there might be as many as three projects going on but I dont see how people can work on several at one time. I used to think it was impossible but with repetition I can see how now........kind of like a chess player (seen on tv) that can walk around playing several games at once, I dont know if he can focus on alll games at once or just at a glance know what he needs to do.

Well i aint feeling so so bad now..........just need a bigger box for my learning experiences. I think I have 3 nearly completed holsters that are laying around and it is actually handy to ave a round for various reasons, one is satisfying curiosity about patterns. Had an XD learning experience and because it was handy I could see clearly that the pattern for it would work for xdm as well

Title says it all. Just screwed up a holster at the very end. without any details that is what happened. Of course furious with myself and just had to go outside and cool off ................got me to wondering where were you in experience level when you stopped making major errors. I have really only totally wasted 2-3 holsters and consider my self an infant compared to the experience that is on this forum. Just curious.......

I have looked and cant find any. Does any one know where I could see a visual comparison of different size threads on holsters or belts???

Thank you all for the posts and tips therein. It looks like the money is coming together and I believe the cb3200 is what I want to settle on. I think it will do everything I want and then some. In the grand scheme of things it is not essential at this time but as some have mentioned, the opportunity to learn the machine will be nice and I would rather have it down ahead of time. I am one of those guys that plans ahead (to a fault some times) but I would rather be over prepared. Plus winter time is my lax time as far as work load goes as well.
