  1. Hello Dana, Search for "Sylvia", under members. She has a white chicken as her logo. Contact her and ask about the setter deal she found. I have taken advantage of it and it is a very good buy. Setter, 3 die sets and 100 pack of rivets for $89.99 with free shipping. She can head you off in the right direction. The older setters on eBay will work, if you can locate the dies you need that will fit these devices. For me, it is not worth the trouble and the dies can be very expensive if you need several. If any questions, Sylvia can help you out. She saved the day for me. God Bless. Ray
  2. Hello Caitysbird, Look under members for "SYLVIA", SHE HAS A WHITE CHIKEN AS HER LOGO, AND ASK HER ABOUT THE DEAL SHE FOUND. I also purchased the setter and received in two days. You can call 1-800-868-4419 and ask for David. It is a very good buy at $89.99 for the setter, 3 die sets, and a package of rivets. Sylvia can give you the site information, which I did not write down or have misplaced. Hope this works for you. If you call David, be sure to tell him that "Sylvia" sent you and he will immediately know what you are seeking. I chose different die sets than Sylvia but it makes no difference to David. God Bless. Ray
  3. Thanks Curley, Finally got it right. All this computerese is strange to me. Point and shoot type useage and not always correct there either. The other store is; www.webstore.com and I checked it and works. YEAH!!!!! The other is; www.eCRATER.com and worked earlier when I tried. I think they are both relatively new sites but have some nice features and best of all, they are free. God Bless. Ray
  4. Howdy Amigo, Stick with us and show us more of your work when time permits. Never let one sour grape or bad apple, spoil the entire crop. Many great and friendly folks here and will welcome you with open arms. If you were not welcomed on the site and given the impression you are not welcome, to mean anything it would have to come from the owners of the site. Whenever there is a large gathering of folks, there is bound to be some less than desireable that manage to creep in but it is a very insignificant few. Stick with the positive and upbeat folks and shove the naysayers away as they are usually unhappy and/or jealous souls that live in constant agony. Hope to see you here again. God Bless. Ray
  5. Keep at it, Holmes. These are great and you will improve as you get into more projects. Nice job. Welcome to the site. God Bless. Ray 2nd attempt to get this posted.
  6. Thanks Sylvia, I'm not much at computerese so would not know why, or how to fix the link. I will enter it again, here, and see if it works this time around. It goes okay from my home page, msn, but not here. Duhhhh? Greek to me. It is in my favorite listings as; www.eCRATER.com but. no idea if it will work. God Bless. Ray
  7. Hey Ed, They are now listed individually on www.eCrafter.com at my store, "goodthings1". Thanks for your input.
  8. Under members, look for "SYLVIA", and ask her about the neat deal she has found for setting rivets and snaps. Has a white chicken as her logo on the site. Great deal. God Bless. Ray

  13. Hello KLS, I believe the norm is to allow your items to be dry when preparing for dye application. I do both wet and dry and have had good results with both methods. I suppose it depends a lot on the dye you are going to use and what the specific application is. Perhaps one of the experts on the site can fill you in with more information. Noticed you are from Alabama. Where? I am in Opelika. God Bless. Ray
  14. Hello John, The perforated material on one side is very much like the closeout leather product from Springfield Leather. No idea if they still have a supply remaining. I have a few pieces of the leather and use it on specialty items as have yet to find a product to make that satisfies me. I am not much help at telling you whether your product is genuine but did want to let you know about the perforated being available in leather. God Bless. Ray
  15. Hello Brock, Embosser/stamper is still available. If interested, please PM me at raysouth1@hotmail.com . God Bless. Ray
  16. As new, Embosser/Stamping machine by Tandy. Comes with all of the attachments/adapters that came with the machine. I will be selling a few stamps at later date, as I reduce my shop items. Great buy and selling at a loss. My loss your gain. If you do a good bit of stamping, this could be a good device to have on your bench. First $250.00 plus shipping by posatal service or? God Bless. Ray
  17. Looks Good and should be a great addition to your tool chest. God Bless. Ray
  18. Hello Raven, This is the second time I will have attempted to respond. No idea why site will not post. Perhaps this time it will work. Try mixing the Pro Stain from Tandy, ie; Pearl, Silver, Gold, etc; with Fiebings or Angelus spirit dye for some wild metallic colors. Experiment and record the amounts you use of each, if you intend to duplicate. It works and allowed to dry/cure properly, they can be buffed, and finished with balm or some of the Angelus shene products. Email if any questions and we can discuss further. God Bless. Ray
  19. Hello Geneva, Please tell me where the best auction sites are for the Randall machine @ 3/4 hundred. Looking for something that I can afford that would cut straps for me. God Bless. Ray
  20. I do make a ton of fobs from such pieces, some fancy than others by adding end tips, eyelets, and different styles of embossed/patterned leather. Also great for bracelets, bookmarks, etc. Even made some small strops from 2" wide pieces, mounted on wood as a backing and handle. Hope this helps. God Bless. Ray
  21. Good morning, Cheryl. A day away can be good for the soul, as well as a time to become inspired by something you encounter along the way. I found that I have a tendency to take small bits of leather and begin making fobs of any shape and size from what is lying around, and it has become such an obsession that I am going to have to stop and find a new outlet. I must have a thousand or more, hanging all around the shop. Duh??????? I also get away every now and then. Just hop, in my case crawl, to the car and head for town, pick up a newspaper, read the obits, work the crossword, when it is not filled with impossible clues like, what shirt did Marco Polo wear when he conquered Mexico?, lol. I'm not much of a tv fan, due to insanity of commercials I see, so I may grab a book and sit with my man "Peanut", and all the others, watching their antics and just "laying up sorry", as they say in these parts. We can suffer burn out, even though we enjoy and love working with leather. Don't want that to happen, nor does anyone, so take that day away, fly off into another scene, and "lay up sorry", until the mind has time to refocus and feel excited about returning to the craft. It will always be there, waiting for your return when you have been, re-inspired, and well rested. Wish we had some nearby transportation museum or something interesting nearby as I could sit and dream a bit of days gone by. I admire skills of yesteryear and always amazed when I think of the ability they had, making some of the fantastic machines we enjoy today. Daydream a bit and wander off in wonderful dreams of what has been and how fortunate we have been, then we may find a way to get to that elusive, "niche". Take a break Cheryl, and have a wonderful time. God Bless. Ray
  22. Howdy Y'all, I don't have the slightest idea where my "niche" would be here in Alabama. Fancy goods sold in New York would not be it and high end priced items would not fare well either. Location plays a big part if attempting to sell in the local area. I have experimented with a few items on the net but don't seem to get it right as nothing selling for me, and they are relatively inexpensive items. I have thrown in a few of the collectibles as I sell down my small estate and I just don't seem to have the "touch" when it comes to marketing. I won't use eBay or the other pay for sites as I believe their costs have gotten a bit out of line, especially for smaller items as I seem to sell. What to make? Good question. Belts, holsters and some small cases seem to be the thing around here. Few leather bracelets, and fobs, now and then. If I ever find the niche that works for me, it will be small items as best for me to work with at the time. Never will I attempt to make a saddle or something else so large. Doubt if I could pick it up these days, but still envy those so talented. I enjoy doing folk art pieces and have passed a few on to others but still not a big market. I suppose I will be one of those that works with the medium out of pleasure derived. Keeps me out of trouble and keeps the mind working all the time. When I retire each evening, I find myself thinking of what I will be able to create the next day. At times, I dream up something original and enjoy creating the piece. In a nutshell, I will be sure to announce the finding of my "niche", when I discover this elusive rascal. God Bless everyone. Ray
  23. Hello Walter, Great machine for burnishing. Nice to have one that can be permanently mounted on a bench. I use burnishers in a Dremel and drill, as well as a Foredom type tool. I think the base that you have for the shaft is very unique and well made. Changing the subject, I have been busy on You Tube, watching and listening to "Oesch's die Dritten". Have you heard of them? Wonderful Yodelers and a great family group. Switzerland has some superb talent. Appezeller Talent at it's best. God Bless. Ray
  24. Willkommen JuF. My German is not so good these days. Has been 50 years this year, since I have spoken the language. Always on my mind and still have a bit of fun with folks that I meet that know German. Hope you find many interesting things on the site and enjoy meeting some good folks here as well. God Bless. Ray
