  1. These look fantastic! I need to make something like them for myself!
  2. First I got to say, not just the suspenders, but everything you have made looks great! I really like what you did with the patch on this set. I am wanting to make a set of suspenders for myself and was wondering what width and thickness of leather you are using? I was thinking 1 1/2" but curious what you are using. Once again, everything looks awesome. Stay safe, Mike
  3. Ask me any questions on the helmet shields. I would be glad to help you with anything I can.

  4. You have some great looking leatherwork. I really like the chin strap. Might have to make one of those. Keep up the great work!

  5. Finally have gotten back around to making some shields. Just finished this one up today. I now have 8 more to do over the next 2 weeks. Let me know what you think.
  6. Looks incredible except that my initials are MM... What ounce leather are you using for the outside and the inside?
  7. One other thing I forgot to mention. If you are not doing it yet (can't tell from the photos), be sure and burnish the edges. The first shield I made got trashed all around the edges on the first fire I was at. It appeared that the water and steam penetrated the edges and reaked havoc on it. I was able to take the shield off, throw it in the hose dryer and dry it out. I had to cut off about an 1/8' all the way around it. I then went and got the stuff to burnish the edges and it has held up to several other fires great. I also shoot about 8 coats of sheen on it through an air brush when it is completely finished to protect it. All the shields I have made this way have held up great. You can wipe all the soot and crap off and they look almost new. Just my 2 cents worth to save you some repair work down the road if you haven't done any of that to it yet. Keep tooling and stay safe!!
  8. It looks like you are getting the hang of it. Looking good. With each one I do I get just a little bit better. I spend alot of time looking on here and on google looking at all the custom Shields. Really helps me get design ideas. Check out Redhouse Shields. He has some really nice work. http://redhouseshields.net/
  9. Looking good. I learn alot more with each one I get done. Keep up the great work! Stay safe. Mike

  11. Thanks for the comment Mike. I am slowly learning the tooling, just need to work more and painting, dying, staining, etc. Thanks again and stay safe!
  12. Just finally finished up my second shield. I am ready to get started on a couple more. Seems like I learn a little more with each one.
  13. These are some great looking shields! Keep up the great work.
  14. Looking good. I have one shield done and working on a second one. Ran my hand through the table saw though so I am anxiously waiting to get healed up so I can tool again (happened 2 months ago but it is gradually improving). I look forward to makimg some suspenders too. Keep up the great work and stay safe! Mike
