  1. Couple more items I'm working on I messed up the stitching on the harness but my friend is happy. Hell I was already ruining it with pink
  2. Had to throw one more recommendation for RJF. Great quality and consistency!
  3. I have been working on my hand stitching as a novice. I to was using a chisel but found more succes with a good awl and a "pricking wheel" to lay out ur stitch pattern. got my awl. Blade from bob Douglas and what a difference. I have some examples a couple threads down under " first agitation collar".
  4. That is all Veg tanned. I sealed it only using some neutral kiwi polish. No problems yet, but im in California so im not sure if i know what extreme weather is. I used two peices of 7oz glued and stitched together.

  8. Thank you for your critiques. I' wanted nice heavy collars that looked as tuff as the dogs they were on. I'm looking for different hardware.i would like to find nice heavy solid stuff.
  9. On my next one I'll take more time gluing the two peices together and burnishing the edges. But overall it will serve its purpose. The handle has deerskin stitched on the inside so it is easier for the handler to grip.
  10. I'm going to take some peices over when I go look at it. If the stitches look good I guess I'll buy it. Seems like a durable machine for the money
  11. No that's great info. That was the thing I could find nothing on them really except the initial threads when they first came out. Every thing I did find says they were built well but is there anyone using one out there. What is the long term durability problems
  12. Thanks Andy! I've been making heavy duty working harnesses and the hand stitching is killing me. I like the look but it's taking me too much time. I was looking at a boss or tech sew ga5, but this one came up at 700. Im still a ways from the coin to get the tech , and the need for something was now. The only thing was I couldn't find to much info on this machine. Any info would help.
  13. Thinking about picking up a local used one. Would this be a good entry level machine or should I hold off for something with a motor?Thank you
  14. Also check out Clay Miller out of Temple. Been ordering a bunch of bevelers from him that I'm real happy with.
  15. Thanks for the article Chuck. There are lots of imitation piteado products out there that I'm sure were done with embroidery machines. When you see and feel a real piteado product you will know the difference. And it's durability is unreal. That is one of the unique properties of ixtle , you can ruff it up without it fraying or coming apart. I know till this day whenever someone I know buys something piteado they take a lighter to it. If the threads fray and burn its fake. Hopefully I can sit in on some local makers on my next trip.
  16. Just wondering if anyone on this board does piteado. The town in Mexico i visit every year has alot of local artist, but i can never find anyone here in the states. Here is a wallet my buddy had made a few years ago.
  17. Very nice! Any updates? I would love to see how this turned out.
