  1. Lucky girl! I know a fellow who made all this gorgeous Renaissance Faire garb and gear for his girl and she just wasn't into the faire scene! What a waste! He's got a new girl who is much more appreciative.
  2. I knew their reason for the design of the band; I just found it frustrating to toss the unused backs. Of course I included the cost of the hardware in the order, but still... I too find it hard to toss stuff - ESPECIALLY leather scraps. But I've gotten better about recognizing what is just too small or scarred to be usable.
  3. I have a customer who regularly orders wristbands which take 6 snaps, see attached pic. My problem is that it uses only 2 of one side of the snap, and 6 of the others! What use, if any, is there for the other half? At this point, I just toss 'em.
  4. Hooray! You got it Joe :jump:
  5. I love Aussie Wax, which is available via Tandy at least, as a finishing coat - it offers waterproofing. I use it on almost everything. I like your design of the holster - it's unique
  6. I agree completely about buying leather at shows (seeing pre-buying) - that's what I was doing almost exclusively for a while; 'til I was in DE and there was a Tandy in the Baltimore, MD region, about an hour from my home. Then I could buy leather there. Because I do alot of small projects, I don't need a 1st rate high quality hide. I did a dog collar from a donated piece of Wickett and Craig, and MAN was that the nicest leather I'd used yet...but I can't afford to buy what I would need to from them, and then pay shipping too.
  7. If you prefer someone else, put it in a reply; otherwise, just choose one of the two. The poll is ANONYMOUS but if you reply, it will show any comments...
  8. Here is the first cat I've ever seriously attempted. I'm pleased with the outcome overall. My question is, seeing how the box is stained, what color should I make the leather and the cat? I'm thinking a light brown, like saddle tan, with the cat down in a resist; or burgundy with a black cat, or grey cat...just can't make up my mind! So the choice is in your hands! LOL!
  9. I've made 2 now, this being the second one, from the parts Tandy sells. I found it very difficult to work with the rawhide drum head and "lace". It had to be soaked in a tub for a long time first, and to put it on the drum frame that way was difficult. Was I doing something wrong?
