  1. Just purchased and received the CB4500 Cowboy this past Monday. Jake
  2. We had night deposit bags at my store that had a Sooper heavy duty zipper that ended with a key lock. The bag was made of thick canvas but I see no reason why leather wouldn't work. Google " locking deposit bag" to see what I mean. Jake
  3. My recent piece from Springfield's was nice. I did hear that buying directly from HO was even better quality than what Springfield carries. I'd like to see that in person. I guess half the time it depends on who you talk to. I just don't understand why W&C doesn't want my money. Would it make a difference if I ordered 10 sides at a time? Anyone? Jake
  4. Just a note...I've molded several style holsters for my XDM 45 4.5" barrel, and my standard XD 9mm SC 3" barrel fits these holsters pretty darn good too. I don't think the upper gun / guard dimensions, at least, are all that different. Mind you, I haven't put a caliper to them to get precise measurements. I had both guns out on the desk one day, and thought, "what the heck", and gave it a try. One of my first ARG-style holsters attempts , open toed, will allow the .45's barrel to pass through the toe, and that one was molded for the 9mm XD. So in that case, the reverse is true. Keep in mind I am no expert here, but both guns seat nicely and don't fall out when tipped over. In my first IWB I made, built like a pancake minus the belt slots, siamese loop on the front ; the 9 is actually harder to shake out than the 45. I think this is weight related. In any case, they both fit. This was molded for the XDM 45 4.5"bbl. For what it is worth.... Jake
  5. Pretty sure he does state the thickness in the video. " Not less than 3 1/2 oz., not more than 4oz." ( Paraphrased) Jake
  6. That helps! Thanks, Guys. Jake
  7. I could use pictures of the drop down belt guide installed. Preferably one in the 'up" position, and one in the "down" position. CB4500 Thanks, Jake
  8. Thanks, Folks. Wiz, Thanks. I've printed off your tips to post on the wall behind my machine! Jake
  9. Oh yes..I've got the making of scraps down pat Jake
  10. Stunning! How many hours did just the tooling take, would you say? Jake
  11. Is there a class somewhere for learning how to use an industrial sewing machine (441 clone)? Jake
  12. I like the symbolism...like blood money Jake
  13. Drum dyed black and chestnut 8-10oz standard grade skirting and I think another one split down but its been so long I can't remember. Jake
  14. Is it normal to wait a month or more for an order from W&C? Jake
  15. Looks like you could mimic a brindle pattern with that technique. Jake
  16. Hey Shooter, why does that holster appear mottled or marbled? Jake
  17. I was curious if any of you sell your holsters wholesale? If so, how has that worked out so far? Thanks, Jake
  18. I sent the manufacturer an email today explaining what the application would be, asking if it was any stronger than Kydex, and if so, how a sample might be obtained along with molding instructions. Stay tuned.. Jake
  19. If you are interested in some of the symbolism associated with Man and trees, (and a lot more) get hold of a copy of "A Reverence for Wood", by Eric Sloane. I recommend all of his books, actually. We are forever intertwined, after all. Don't we all have a trunk, limbs, and roots of out own? And a Family tree? and on and on..... Jake
  20. Please PM me if you have any Baird books for sale. Please include title and price in your PM, too. Thanks! Jake
  21. Find a local blacksmith and have it made. You could do a trade or something. Maybe even learn a little bit about forging. It's real good for hand strength. Jake
  22. Cool. I've read mixed reviews on using an open ended metal belt clip vs. a loop, as the whole holster might come out with the gun at a very inopportune moment. Jake
  23. How well does the holster stay put on a quick draw? Jake
  24. Many of you may already have or have read this book but I just finished R.K.Campbell's "Holsters for Combat and Concealed Carry" and wanted to recommend it, especially to my fellow novice holster makers. It is quite informative. It's not about building the holster, but the holster in use. He covers the many types and styles of holsters, including their drawbacks as well as virtues. There is also a section on holsters designed for women. Anyway, I thought it a useful reference. Jake
  25. The angle of the picture is an illusion.. The slots leave 3/8" of leather outside of the slot. Is that sufficient or still too thin? Jake
