  1. Thank you I will check out that thread. My book just said 4 passes through the corner hole and three through the adjacent ones. But all the other holes only have two passes so I got confused.
  2. Thank you, my brain doesnt do well with braiding.
  3. Ok, I went back through that hole after I went around the turn but something was still off so I unlaced it.
  4. Good idea : Round braid help https://imgur.com/a/KiaJsjD I keep moving forward, having it not look right then unlacing it. I feel like I am missing something obvious.
  5. Any tips would be appreciated I made the dead center hole 1/8" and enlarged the holes on either side. I get the pattern complete to the tip of the belt then get confused trying to reverse directions.
  6. Good to know, thank you. I ended up getting another needle and that solved the problem. It would seem I had damaged the threads getting the damaged lace out. Now I just need to figure out how to braid around an English point!
  7. Good to know about the superglue. I used a beeswax/tallow mix that I use for conditioning on the lace. I believe the issue I am having is that the flat calf lace doesnt have enough thickness to get a bite on the needle. I have done lacing in the past but am new to the round braid. After I finish this belt I will investigate other laces. I really like the look of the round braid and would like to use it on other projects if I can get this issue resolved. Thank you.
  8. Switched to a long slow one sided taper instead of two sided point and it works much better now! Sorry for the trouble guys, I was FRUSTRATED!
  9. I definitely am not pulling on the needle after the hole. It worked ok for 5 test pieces to get the spacing right. Then a piece of lace tore off in the needle. I couldnt get it out so burned it and poked it with a JJ needle. It seems like I got it out but as soon as I started on the actual project it stopped holding firmly. Maybe I damaged the threads? Only other thing I can think of was waxing the lace maybe there isnt enough friction now. I am wondering if some two part epoxy on the end of the lace would be stiff enough to work as a "needle". I should take a break it was very frustrating.
  10. I am using 1/8" calf lace with a small tandy perm a lock needle and #0 holes to do a round braid. I am having difficulty with the needle staying attached. Is this needle generally considered serviceable or is there one which works better? Thank you
  11. If I hand sew a belt I start at dead center of the tip and work toward the billet on one side. Then with a second thread start at the same place and do the other side. This makes it more manageable for me and looks clean.
  12. That pattern is beautiful. Is it two different shell stamps or one shell stamp with a second stamp? I didnt see it on Barry's site.
  13. I had the same problem. I saw your video and bought some hide glue to try. It turned white and cracked the next day. I will try less glue. I like your videos, they are candid and real and have lots of valuable information for those of us who are younger. I also sand the edges to get the little fibers off. I have been doing leather work for 9 years and after burnishing it seems the fuzzy fibers start standing up after a few weeks. That was why I tended to sand them off first but it is an expensive task. I am hopeful the pearl glue will make it less necessary. Thank you.
  14. Hello. you have not had an issue with that delaminating? It looks like 10m is $17 and change about the same here but shipping is usually expensive when I send items to Australia.
  15. Good to know, thank you. If I cannot add it to an existing order to save shipping I will call them.
  16. Great, thank you, I will try that. The one natural I saw was glazed. I will call my suppliers to see what they have That was my second idea using metal would look great, it would just be a chore..
  17. A customer wants silver Kangaroo buckstitching but it seems most of it is a foil laminate. Does anyone know of one that isn't a foil or does anyone have any experience with an unfinished lace that might take an eco flo metallic waterstain. It is to match a sterling buckle. Thank you.
  18. In my experience calling HO is always helpful. They have always transferred me to the person who could answer my question.
  19. Realize this is an old post but I sell things to Canada. It is usually $14-20 to ship depending on location and weight. To add tracking is $12.95. It is just as expensive as shipping to the UK for some reason.
  20. Ground down a flat spot on my oval punch for the set screw to sit in Holy smokes that works well! Time to get a second arbor press so I don't have to switch back and forth. Thanks for the EXCELLENT idea!
  21. I had been thinking about the weaver self centering punch, this would be much more economical
  22. That sounds right. It is just odd I never noticed that before. I will go through and adjust the foot tension. I have only oiled it in the last two years it may need some adjustments.
  23. I was having some bobbin problems. I just noticed something bizarre though it stitches normal on 8-9 veg but when I put 8-9 harness in it stitches shorter?
  24. That is a really great idea, I just have to drill out the ram on my arbor press.
  25. Give them a call, they are very helpful and there isn't a minimum you can get one side. They definitely have tooling leather.
