What are you going to be using it for?

If you are a one man operation, and have that much work then you are leaving money on the table! In other words, you need to charge more to offset the customer to work load and that will make up for your extra time. When you slow down, run a short sale. I'm speaking from business experience where I have a small number of employees and monthly overhead for advertising, business / website related expenses, and utilities. In my business I grew way too fast, but was able to keep up with the pace. I went from being a one man operation this time last year, to receiving literally hundreds of orders around Thanksgiving, and I've been playing catch-up ever since. When you come to the realization that you are where you are it's a rude awakening and I liken it to someone shoving your head in a tub of ice water! You panic a little, but pick yourself up and figure it out! It will take a toll on you. The broad customer base, long hours, self made deadlines, and customer calls and emails will pile up fast. You need to decide whether you are in this thing to build a legacy company for your family to take over down the road, or if it's just a hobby business for you.

Production is down here, and I cannot get ahold of anyone to help me out. I called Bob with Toledo Sewing Machine today. He told me to try a few things and get back with him if they didn't work, and he never got back to me. Then, I called Ryan Neel of Neels Sadlery, and I have always been able to get in touch with him since he's a night owl. I have left a few messages, and he hasn't gotten back to me either after 12 hours! So, I'm stuck trying to figure it out on my own! Machine and Material Details: - I am running 277 thread on top and bottom - #25 794s needle - Leather is 3/8" thick in the area being sewn. Things I have tried and have failed: - New Needle - Adjusted top tension, in increments to the tightest level ... no luck. -Adjusted top tension, in increments, to be equal to bobbin tension ... no luck. -Adjusted bobbin tension until it took very little effort to pull the thread out ... no luck. -At this point I am clueless on what to do. I have messed with the needle tension and bobbin tension to the point of it not working on any setting, and put it back to the original tension, test sewed lighter leather to confirm, and left it alone. Does anyone have ANY suggestions on what to do next?

Ordered From Wickett & Craig ... Got The Runaround!
RoosterShooter replied to RoosterShooter's topic in Suppliers
Here's my thing, If they had been honest with me up front and told me it was going to be a week for splitting I would have swallowed hard and dealt with it. My only issue is the fact that they could tell me the truth about the lead time. Now, I might give them another chance sometime, but I'm going to be up front and tell them to give me a realistic time frame. And, you're right. Hermann Oaks quality has been seriously lacking lately. The last batch of 30+ hides I received from them were ordered as B Grade, but I can bet there wasn't a single one in the bunch that was even close to a B. On a big order like that I just had to use what I can and figure out the rest. It would kill me to ship it back, and then I'd be stuck with nothing until something else came in. My issue is that I'll be running on 'Production Level' within the next 3 to 4 months, and I can't have people beating around the bush on quality when I have obligations to fill with distributors and gun shops! -
I placed an order with Wickett & Craig on Monday and was told it would ship on Tuesday. Tuesday I called to get a tracking number and was told that it was in splitting, and would go out Wednesday. Wednesday I called and was told it would go out Thursday or Friday, and TODAY I called and they said it would go out Friday or Monday! So, I canceled my order due to an entire week being wasted and being led around the bush! Has anyone else had this issue with them? I was trying to find an alternative to Hermann Oak, but I guess that's what I get for thinking the grass is greener! Your thoughts?

The problem is that I need the 10" x 13" resealable Poly Bags with Hanging Hole. That's where it gets pricey. I would probably order them in the 2k lot to save money and to prevent me from running out anytime soon. Thanks for the help. Keep them coming if you know of anywhere else.

I need a source for product packaging. I would like to go with a sealable poly bag with a hanging hole, and have a folding label stapled over the top of that. Does anyone know where I might begin looking for these items? Thanks in advance.

I think this is what you're looking for snubbyfan. The Ruger Vaquero is a replice of the Colt SAA. RMB Custom Leather .... The Glock Model 40 is identical to the Model 41. The same as the Model 20 is to the Model 21.

So, here's a couple of questions for you guys! You are waaayyy more 'seasoned' than I as I've only been doing leatherwork as a business for 6 years or so, and as a youngster I followed the 'Amish Way' of doing it as they were my mentors. I'm using modern veg tan Hermann Oak leather. I wish to have a rich dark tone to it, and it stay that way, without turning the leather into a baseball glove! Lastly, I want to use something that's not going to leach into my bloodstream and cause me problems 20 yrs. down the road. I currently have to heavily oil my holsters and outdoor products to the 'Fine Line' of over-oiling them in order to get the hue that I like. Here is what I'm after without all of the overoiling that I've been doing .... For the record ... I'm linking my site and I own rights to it. http://www.panthercreekgunleather.com/collections/frontpage/products/woodsman-chest-rig What do I use that doesn't contain petroleum distillates or harmful chemicals?

First off .... I don't want to order off of Ebay! I want a company that I can order from and order online. I am needing 7 x 3 needles for my Cowboy 3200. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a mold for the Glock Model 40, or is it the same as the Model 41?

I'm looking for an affordable leather buffing machine. Similar to what shoe repairmen use on boots, belts, etc .... Who makes them? I sent a query through the usual search engines, and didn't turn much up.

Pattern Or Tamplate For Pal Rh36 Knife Sheath
RoosterShooter replied to Constabulary's topic in Patterns and Templates
A lot of these old knife sheaths didn't have welts! I've done several for old KBars, and the like. Your best bet is to just trace from a printout of the picture you just showed, and tweak it. There is going to be a little trial and error on cutting a pattern, but you should be able to eye it.
