  1. I just found a new supplier for some real nice kangaroo lace. Lots of colours and sizes. www.knottylinda.com Hopes this helps someone!
  2. Just found a new Canadian supplier for kangaroo lace, sure is nice stuff! http://knottylinda.com/leather-lace/

  3. Just finished a project using the same weave. Chief31794 has a great tutorial on YouTube. I watched it a couple times and didn't have any trouble with the corners. You have to punch the corner holes 1/32 bigger because you need to go through them four times. The book you are looking for is "how to Lace" download it from Tandy's site for about $4.00. Good luck with your project, lacing looks good so far!
  4. Thanks Chief, I had a 50% chance of getting the right book first time, guess I picked the wrong one, another $5.00 into my leather working tools and books. I will have to start selling some of my stuff to justify buying more. I sure like the look of the triple loop, hope the quadruple looks as good. I'm also going to watch some of your videos tonight, good stuff and much appreciated. Off to download another book, will let you know how it works, thanks again, Garry.
  5. I'm trying to lace up the side of a thick (3/8") sheath I made. I tried double loop, and triple loop, but they don't quit cover the edge. I am told there is a quadruple loop or four loop lacing, but I haven't been able to find it in any books or on the web. If anyone knows how to do this I would sure appreciate a tutorial or instructions, Thanks, Garry.
  6. I downloaded the book, it doesn't show four loop lacing. I tried the triple, and it is pretty nice just about perfect, but I would like to try the four loop before I do my project. I drilled my holes with a dremel and a 3/32 bit. I will check youtube to see if I can find a demo of four loop lacing, thanks guys for your tips, especially the one Chief gave me about sticking the needle in the next position, then pulling the lace through, really saves time!
  7. Ok thanks I see it is in digital, ordering my copy now!
  8. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I will try them all. I live in the North west Territories Canada, no stores near here so getting supplies is a challenge. A lot of companies won't ship here either. Looks like I need another book, good thing I can download them. Garry.
  9. What is a triple or fourple loop, never heard of this? Thanks Chief, I will see if I can get a 3/32 punch. The sheath has 3 layers of 1/8" leather around the edges. My punches seem to be too tapered to get through that much leather.
  10. I am making a sheath for a large panga (machete) and I would like to do some double loop lacing on it. My question is what should I use to punch the holes. My lace is 1/8, and the leather is 3/8" thick. Should I use a punch and if so what size? It seems too thick to use a chisel, or I was even thinking of drilling the holes? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  11. Wow thanks for all the replies, didn't know everyone hated the Tandy stuff. It is a little pricey, and I was thinking of using my own liner. Should I glue the liner on the back of the leather or leave it free and just stitch it on? Thanks everyone, I thought maybe I had done something wrong, but seems others have had the same problem. I live in Northern Canada and find a lot of suppliers don't ship up here. Can anyone suggest a supplier for me?
  12. I'm new to this craft, just trying some Tandy kits. The holes in the lining in the kits never matches the holes in the leather. I have been careful to make sure I am not stretching the leather when tooling. Is there something I am doing wrong? Anyone have a solution? Thanks.
  13. Thanks, lots of good information for us newbies!
