  1. I guessed that place because that is where I usually start my lacing. Wow six pieces, you are an expert at hiding those joints!
  2. Looks great Chief! I think we should start a contest to guess where you started and finished. My guess is right under the tree trunk bottom right hand? I'm not real sure about that but that's my guess on this fine piece of lacing!
  3. It's always hard to get that linen thread to do what you want it to. Your stitching is great by the way.
  4. Looks great to me. I can see a small glue line in the lower right on the first picture, but I'd be pretty happy with those edges. One thing I found by trial and error, try using some tiger thread, it is awesome, makes your stitching lay really flat, and you can hide your overstitching better. I'd probably go with the 1.0 size for that project. Garry
  5. Wow that looks great! Nice stitching and I don't see any errors, like others have said you are your own worst critic. I'm sure your daughter will cherish it!
  6. Looks great, only comment I would have is you should line that belt so the stitching doesn't show. Great job though.
  7. I use Fiebings black dye as well, two coats and you get a nice black, easy to use as well, no blotches. I've switched from Tandys Pro Water stain, which was the only eco-flo product that gave even reasonable results, to Fiebings pro oil dye, they work awesome.

Wow nice! Are they lined, or is that the flesh side? Hard to tell from the photo. By the way awesome stiching
  9. http://www.knottylinda.com/, it's a great place for Kangaroo Leather Lace, good service as well as fast shipping.
  10. Really nice stuff, your stitching is fantastic. I'm still learning, but you say you are using pro-line lacing chisels? I'm doing mine with an awl and they look pretty good, but not nearly as good as yours. Could you be more specific on the size of lacing chisel you are using? Thanks, Garry.

Looks great, what kind of dye is that, and where did you get the buffalo conchos?
  12. LOL, well It's a good reminder, them dang hand made leather goods just never seem to wear out. I use all the stuff I make errors on, just can't bring myself to throw them out.
  13. I just made a card holder and put the initials on upside down! Did the same with the first belt I made! Live and learn.
  14. I'm having the same problem, most pictures not showing? Hope it works soon, by the way you do a great job!
  15. Thanks Halitech, I have done a couple since with cold water, and no problem. Also the leather is not near as stiff when finished. I'm still learning appreciate the feed back.
  16. Roq, I tried the mold again with cold water this time, the hot water seems to have been the problem. No staining at all. I didn't know you could form leather without warming it up first. I am also going to give my mold a couple more coats of lacquer as you suggest Roq, thanks, Garry.
  17. I am having a little problem with my work, and don't know who to ask for help. The project is wet forming leather for a small pouch in a two part form. When I pull my forms apart there is a lot of staining on part of the leather. My forms are maple, with a coat of lacquer. I am soaking the leather in fairly hot water before I put them in the form. Then I am using some very modest heat to help dry them in the form. I will attach photos so you can see the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
  18. My experience as well, gums up your needles and awl. It seems to hold well, and is handy to use though.
  19. Wow these look great so clean, and I really like the finish as well. Guess I'm going to have to try one.
  20. Thank you Monica, that means a lot coming from someone who does some amazing stiching.
  21. Thanks snubbyfan I do need to do a lot more. I checked out a couple of your videos, really like your stiching one. I always like to see someone doing it different than the traditional way. As long as it looks good it's ok in my book. I don't awl all the holes at once, but I do around five or six at a time. Not coordinated enough to hold awl and needles and pliers at the same time. You need a stiching pony, they are awesome.
  22. Thanks Terry that is exactly the information I needed.
