  1. This will give you a start, I use them all the time. I think I am using about 4 oz leather. Just punch four holes and put a cut to join them.
  2. Looks great! Do you find the binder clips mark the leather, especially when it's wet? I made little leather covers for mine, and they work great, no more marks.
  3. I make mine the same as Boriqua, with some belt loops higher depending on the customer. Very strong and look great!
  4. They look great, very neat hand stitching. Where did you score the S. B. Foote leather from?
  5. Not bad, way better than my first attempt! Keep going you only get better!
  6. If your not tooling it sounds like a great buy. If your going to tool a lot, go with the Hermann Oak, tools way better. Try a piece of each, I am sure you will notice a big difference.
  7. Looks like your making a great start!
  8. Wax paper for gluing and dying on. Q-tips as well for glue. I put a little resoline in a small jam jar that just fits a wool dauber, leave it in there, get a lot of mileage from one dauber. Don't fill past the wool, the shaft will rust quickly. I keep a little bowl of water next to me when I am dying, drop the dauber in that as soon as I am finished then when I have time wash them out and reuse. Old socks for buffing your leather. Wet dry sandpaper taped to my slab for sharpening instead of a stone. I'm pretty cheap but that's all I can think of right now, lol.

If you want to see what is available, check out Nigel Armitage's videos on YouTube, great resource.
  10. It would look good laced. Like I said watch a few videos on lacing, it's not hard but getting a few pointers first will help make it easier.
  11. I always get the Tandy special sales flyers a couple days after the sale, the manager of my Tandy always honours those flyers for me.
  12. The one on the front is a blood knot. Lots of YouTube videos show you how, try Don Gonzales he shows it. You can download the book "how to Lace" from Tandy, great reference material.
  13. Use the term "line drawing" when you search on google images, tons of stuff on there, I use it all the time. Easy to get back into the swing of using your swivel knife. Make a bunch of coasters out of a cheap belly for practice, not sure what other use bellys are?
  14. That's a bummer, all that great work! I was going to ask what type of lace that was, looks better than the stuff I buy. Is it calf or Kangaroo or some other critter?
  15. As always really nice! Great work there Dwight!
  16. I've had that streaking problem myself, you have to make sure you dry your dye at least 24 hrs. I've switched to Fiebings Tan Kote, seems to be much better, at least I get less streaking.
  17. Nice job, great stitching! The next one will be better! Always learning and improving.
  18. Are your custom stamps made out of Delrin?
  19. I also use a cheap wooden strap cutter, always worked great, no problem as long as you keep the blade sharp.
