  1. thanx billybop i just ordered it from tandy.
  2. I have a customer that wants a matching sheath for detachable blades. I cant find this exact basket weave stamp. If anyone knows what it is and where i can buy one i would greatly appreciate it.
  3. another trick i used until i got the hang of my clutch. i put some styrofoam blocks under the pedal so i couldnt press it all the way down. that at least will keep it from running away from you too much
  4. Thanx Bob I appreciate it. I've set it to look just like my 31-15 but the problem im haveing is the thread isnt making a loop. The hook passes above the eye of the needle just fine but the thread isnt looping and the hook passes by.
  5. Just picked up a singer 44-10. Its in pretty rough shape but not too terrible. I got the wheel to turn and oiled it to hell and gone. All of the mechanics seem to be turning well. Apparently the guy I got it from had been messing with the hook timing because the screws are loose. Im wondering if anyone can give me any advice on setting the timing right. I searched the forum and the only 44-10 post I found said it was basically a short arm version of a 31-15. I have a 31-15 which i absolutley love. How much in common do they actually have. Btw the 44-10 has a roller foot on it which ive never used. Thanx
  6. not sure which motor was on it before. right now im using a 1/2 hp with a clutch and a leather belt. ill be using a totally different table so ill have to mount it and all that. just wanted to make sure that motor would work for me
  7. my 201 has had the motor removed.
  8. im using a singer 201 to sew lightweight chrome tan for things like purses and guitar straps. i currently have a 1/2 hp motor with a clutch drive and im looking to change to a servo motor. the clutch likes to take off like a bat outta hell and it gets away from me pretty quick. ive been looking at the Brushless Digital D.C. Servo Motor at leather machine co. and was wondering if anyone could give me a little advice.

    Leather Art Frame

ive been getting some stuff ready for a local art show and me and a friend decided to colaborate together. i did the leather frame and he did the pinup girl.
  11. the halo your seeing is only on one side of the cut. its not because you went to deep with the swivel knife its from cutting with an angle. the knife just under cut the leather. try to keep it straight up instead of tilting the swivel knife. its a problem i still have so im pretty familiar with it lol. i agree with sinpac make your cuts deeper to add depth. another thing is make sure your leather is cased really well (wet) and keep your swivel knife really sharp. love to see some pics of the long bow your dad made. ive always wanted to try making one myself
  12. heres a new handbag i made for my wife. i got the idea from a motorcycle tool bag and dyed it similar to my own motorcycle gas tank.
  13. LOL not quite a "shotgun" wedding but it was what they called a "redneck" wedding. the bride, groom, the rest of the wedding party and the minister (myself btw. im an ordained minister) was decked out in full hunting camo. and the ceremony was held at a state park on the lake. i know it sounds pretty bad but it was actually a really good time.
  14. this is a shotgun case i made for my cousins wedding gift.
  15. im a tattoo artist and i have tried tattooing leather. i used veg tan and to keep the ink from staining the leather i used beeswax mixed with mineral oil and rubbed it in really well then tattoo'd the leather just like i would skin. while its alot tougher than human skin i found i could do a pretty tight design with no problems. as for the ferrari not sure, that looks like alot of work and lots of time. the tattoo ink in the bottles from the picture above is stable brand ink. its the only tattoo ink that comes in that shape of bottle
  16. heres a couple tattoo'd faces that ive done. the biggest difference ive found is that with tooling its really hard to get a long gradient while shading. it goes from light to really dark, really fast. ive done alot of airbrushing also, its one of my favorite things to do, but being in the st. louis area theres not alot of business for an airbrush artist. so ill stick with tattooing
  17. Finished a wallet for a friend who's a coin collector.
  18. @ chriscraft ive only been tooling leather for a short time myself but ive been a tattoo artist for about 15 years. tattooing and tooling have quite a few similarities ive found. when your doing small faces like that i have figured out that less is more. being that small i would have used an xacto for the features and a small shader.
  19. I did the pattern like I would any other just traced over the outline with a ballpoint pen. Thanks I'm glad you like it. Now comes the hard part , making it a usable wallet.
  20. making a wallet for a friend who is a coin collector.
  21. ive always called them purses, the money goes in a wallet and the wallet goes in a purse along with all the other stuff my wife likes to walk around with. and believe me she has a lot of stuff lol either way thanx alot glad u like it.
  22. if your just looking for something for fiinishes and on a budget you can get a paasche VL for around $100 it was the first airbrush i got 30 yrs ago and i still use the same. Here it is on amazon for $72 http://www.amazon.com/Paasche-VL-SET-Double-Action-Airbrush/dp/B00397TTTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375646945&sr=8-1&keywords=paasche+airbrush+vl any air compressor will do. i havent gotten around to airbrushing finishes yet. i got a pretty good handle on tooling, but stitching and patterns stuff like that is giving me fits lol.
