  1. Decided to use a few parts that were given to me by my parents old friend. The leather is 2-3 oz which is why I lined it with the mission grain pigskin. I couldn't believe how easy it was to install the segma snaps. It was like I breathed on them and they were installed. Compared to the tandy pieces I've used, these ones are a dream to work with, shame they are no longer made like this. The leather is new, everything else was from the 60 year old stuff

  2. The oldest book I can find a date on is 1958. That was 13 years before I was even born lol There are also 4 different craftaids for wallets and 2 different 3/4" letters, 1 is even in log cabin style so I'm gonna have to try that one out

I took a quick look and there is a swivel knife in there with 3 different blades, including 1 that looks like it's brass, a sharpener for the blades, an edge creaser and more. I'll get a pic tomorrow when I can lay things out on the table.

  3. Not really anything I did myself but my father was working at a golf tournament with another board member and he told the guy about me doing leather work. Well, it turns out that years ago when the guy was younger, he had an accident that required removal of part of 1 leg and 3 fingers on 1 hand. As part of his recovery, he got into leather working. He hasn't done much since so he brought the tools and books over to give to me. This is just a small sampling of the books and patterns he sent over.

can't see it that clear but the 3 packages of black next to the wooden mallet is 3 wallet interiors from tandy, all priced at 1.20

How about a two sided keeper? Just dye the flip side brown..  Alternatively, just use a metal keeper like MattS.  Regardless, I like the belt, well done!

the 2 sided keeper is a cool idea but, how would you flip it inside out? Not like there would be a lot of slack to allow you to flip it.

LOL, right on. I started out because I wanted to make about $50 worth of flintlock accessories... a few grand later...

with me it was because I needed a belt and couldn't find one big enough in the stores lol

  6. hello and welcome to the asylum lol there are a few firefighters or makers of fire fighter things that will probably help you out some but we probably won't give you exact measurements and steps (especially if we sell said items) but you can get help designing your own items which believe me, is even more rewarding then making one someone else did all the work on

Stunning and I may steal this idea lol but personally I would make two keepers as you said one brown one black for either side the keepers wont get in the way to much I do not think!

the keeper floats so he could store whichever one he;s not using at the time

Very Nice.  I kinda like the splash of black provided by the keeper on the brown side.  I guess it all depends on what your customer wants.

I kinda like it too but it is up to the customer
