  1. Very nice seat. Just curious if you have ever tried making a slit instead of a hole to do you edge braiding? I would gather that you do the hole because it is less time consuming. your seats are great!
  2. those look great! Just curious as I have not done a guitar strap before, how long is the strap itself?
  3. Mike If I had built that nice of a stand when I started working with saddles I think I would have kept it. do you ever work on saddles now or do you think you will in the future? I would keep it around that is if you have the room to do so. if not I am sure that you could sell it whether locally or on eBay. when i started to fix saddles I was always looking for a place to put the next saddle to repair as I had only one stand and limited space in my shop so an extra stand would have helped.
  4. Pete: If I understand your question you are aasking what size of boarder you should have to put a stich line next to it with out the edging done? I try to round my edges before I stitch and if I run a channel to stich in I usually just make sure I have enough room as to not run off the edge of the leather. Before you work on a piticular project I would practice with scrap leather, I have ruined more than one project by not practicing.

    Introduction

Just thought I would introduce myself as I am now replying to some of the beautiful work I have been watching everyone post. I am not totally computer savey so I have waited to post anything. My name is Skip I live in Utah and have been running a custom saddle and tack shop out of my home for the past eleven years. I enjoy most aspects of leather work and am always trying to figure things out that I don't know so as to improve my skills. I work full time as an X-ray tech so my business is my salvation from the rest of the working world. I will try and post some of my work if all goes well some pictures will be at the bottom. if not I will try again when I build up the courage to do so.
  7. Looks great do you cut your own lace? any coments on what helped you with learning the buttons to make them look nice or does that just come with practice? Skip
