  1. These real leather breeches are quite expencive, like 200 euro, plus shipping, then norwegian custom fees about half of that... So I thought about finding the correct leather (deer or lambskin) and make my own just re-use a breeches with fake leahter full-seat, replace the fake with real? Example picture
  2. I was wondering about english type riding breeches, todays breeches comes with a syntetic leather seat, thats hard, stiff and rub too much... I've got some old breeches with real leather full seat, and they are my all time favorites, but the fabric dont live forever.. the leather still lives like it will last a lifetime, but the fabric not. So I was wondering, what type of leather would one use for making a new pair? I guess I could also "transplant" the old leahter to some new breeches. And its really hard to find someone who makes riding breeches with real leather anymore. Leather suggestion: deer? Others? Do you think its possible to dye the breeches leather black? They are now green. I worry my buttom only get black too :D
  3. Thank you all very much
  4. Had much fun making a A4 leather book cover made a matching box cover cozy.
  5. Thats a good tips, thank you. But on my projects I only use spirit dyes from ROC narvsværte (ROC spirit dyes). Havent got hand on Fiebings spirit dyes, oil dyes yet. Still very happy the ballpointpent is gone
  6. This is the end result, the ballpoint pen marks are completely gone but never ever more a ballpoint pen near any of my leather projects! -"fettpenn" (greasepen?) or chalk only Anyway, this is the holster finished
  7. I think I once read the Saddleback uses crometanned? I would use the oiltanned myself, some of those are so beautiful! I've got myself some brown beautifull "plattlær" (kind of oiltanned harnessleather) with beautiful distress and marbelings on, soooo pretty
  8. My dayjob is working in a paintshop, and I would NOT do the solvent outdoor wood stain on leather... A maybe for a test with the new all(most) acrylic wood stain, inndoor wood stain, but I dont think it would any good.. but just for trying, trying is fun -But I think the result would be sticky, sobby, mushy, uneven, maybe desolve...? Darn, maybe I'll try myself -but only the indoor acrylic wood stain to test. I have actually tought on wood varnish as finish for leather, (the indoor acrylic products) maybe I'll try this too, just for tesing and fun, I know that we can use our indoor wood floor laquer/varnish on wallpaper for sealing if wallpaper is in front of dishwasher/sink (?) to protect from water splashes. Would have to thin it, of course, with water or super sheene maybe, before applying on leather. Eva
  9. I tried to sand it away, but it took of too much, and when antiquing it, it really looked bad.... it took to much colour, and was a dark line where the ballpoint pen had been... The item with ballpoint pen marks on was to be a holster for a smith&wesson... (I clumsed penmarks all ower...) so I continued experimenting, thinking, well, all of the dyes, antiques, finishes anyways lift some of the colored layers... maybe they will lift the blue penmarks too? the thinner didnt do anything.. the antique waterbased didnt do anyhing eighter, so I thaugt, well, then I just have to dye the whole thing black... and I tested on the scrap, and at first I saw the blue pen mark shining through, but then it suddenly wanished! And so I tried agan with the tan and redbrown, and it lifted away the penmark at almost 100 persent! WOHOOO!! So the spirit dyes can lift the penmark away, it may not, but it can will post the item when completely finished :D Thank you so much for helping me Eva

  19. About 50 % of the norwegian leather is sold to luxury tanneries in Europe, (Italy, France, Belgium and so on) for the exclusive brands. In Norway it is forbidden to use barbed wire on all pasture/outfield, and we dont have much pests/bugs. Norway has got the best leather in the world
  20. Try fat leather fat, dont know what brand you use normally (or make yourself, maybe) I am used to brand called Gold Quality leather fat. Eva
