  1. I'm interested too in making a western shoulder rig! Can I have the patterns too please? Thanks
  2. Howdy folks! It's been a while since the last post, I've been really busy, I recently moved and started a job as a night auditor in a hotel, so I'm living like a bat, working at night and leatherworking the day (few hours before dark and work LOL) Here's a rig I've finished a few days ago, it took me a month to assembly it, I consider it my very first custom job (I've made a couple of belts for some friends and I sold a pair of cowboy cuffs, but nothing this big) The customer wanted a gun belt with 25 cartridge loops in the back of the belt, three on the billets and three on holster's loops (a bit over the top for my taste), the holsters are the "Pecos Slim Mexican Loop" I had the pattern from Jim Simmons, I cannot thank him enough, without his help nothing of this would have happened! Thanks again! The customer also wanted the barrels sticking out of the holsters (I don't know why but custom is custom) the two holstered guns in the picture are my two Blank-Firing Navy revolvers, the customer has the conversions and soon he'll send me some pics of the rig with his guns, in the cartridge loops, in case are you wondering, are inserted my homemade wooden bullets Anyway tell me guys what do you think!!! Feedbacks and advices for future impovrements are welcome! A special thanks goes to Jim Simmons which I consider my mentor in holster making ! Cheers from Italy
  3. Thanks oltoot, for the precious informations about cowboy cuffs, I am always interested in period correct and realistic western items! Sooner I'll make to make another pair, if you have reference pics will be cool! Most people just love the stereotype of western leather...
  4. Very nice holster! I have seen also the other one in the pattern section, it's very nice too!
  5. Thanks for the comment lonesome dove! The gentleman was so happy about those cuffs that immediatly ordered me a matching gun belt with a double holster set! I am working at it right now! As always a big THANKS goes to Jim Simmons, for his patterns and detailed instructions!
  6. Now those cuffs belongs to a gentleman from Switzerland! He is very pleased with my work! I'm feeling I'm moving in the right direction into leatherwork!
  7. Thank you Joel for the nice comment! I prefer leather hat bands instead of riibbons... they look too plain to me!
  8. I've put a light coat of acrylic resolene as a finish... I took a risk... I don't know exactly what should be used to seal leather with EVOO...
  9. @ Jim, I forgot to mention that I've found in this topic (http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=53139&hl=) a guide that you wrote and, as always, was a big help for me, especially in making the welt! So once again thank you for the excellent guide you make and for all the help you have provided to this beginner leatherworker! @ Monica, It's just plastic...mocked up as a deer horn, it's a cheap knife that I bought for 4 euro in a hardware store clearance, despite the handle, the blade is pretty good, it also comes with a really lousy sheath, so I decided to pick the challange and make a proper sheat - also as soon I can get my hands on some deer horn - I'm planning to make a proper handle! @ Norton Custom Leather, thank you! I think white stitching makes the finished product much neater !
  10. Howdy folks! Just finished making my first knife sheath, nothing fancy really, it's pretty thick though, about half inch, just an attempt to make a functional one, the large loop was meant to wear on a normal belt and on a 2 1/2 gun belt. I've used extra-virgin olive oil to darken the leather. Tell me what do you think Cheers from Italy
  11. Yes, I know what you mean, I'm basically in the same spot!
  12. Raysouth check this topic out http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=53139&hl= towards the end of the page, there's a PDF file to a manual written by Jim Simmons, his tutorials are simply great and very detailed, I'm making a sheath for my knife and this manual is helping me a lot!
  13. Nice one ! It's the Hand Of God pattern! I'm planning to make one myself as soon I'll develop my skills in carving!
  14. Thank you for the tip, Brushpopper! I'll try this method soon!
  15. Thanks for the clear esplanation and for the patterns! Soon I'll try to print them out and make some holster!
  16. That's some awesome gunleather and cowboy gear! Which dye and finish do you use to give them that natural look? Neatsfoot oil? I am planning to make a cheyenne holster with that natural look.
  17. Thank you for sharing your patterns! I have a question, maybe is a stupid question, but how to print these patterns properly? Thanks for any suggestion
  18. Hi guys, just finished this hatband for my favourite cowboy hat, I've made it out from a scrap strip, it's about 9 oz and is about 3/4 of an inch wide. I've take inspiration from the tiny picin the first photo, so tell me what do you think , I'm looking also for other ideas to make Western hatbands, especially period correct! Advices and suggestions are appreciated! Cheers from Italy
  19. The moment I realized I've punched the slots too close I was really pissed off with myself for that mistake, do you think will wear out that thin?
  20. Thank you guys! Just finished another one! Tell me what do you think! Do you guys think it's too thin the belt slot in this new one?
  21. No problem, at least I know that are called parachute spots, I think will be just a matter of time to find those items around my area. Thank you for the help!
  22. Thank you Bigpaws! Do you know any seller that sells those parachute spots in Europe? International orders especially from the USA, are darn expensive!
  23. Hi guys, I'm looking for this this particular sort of spots/studs, but I haven't found nothing similar on Tandy's website, I've purchased instead some textured rivets, but I'm not quite happy about how they look, can anybody tell me where I can find rivets like those in the pic. Thanks Cheers from Italy
  24. Thank you guys and thanks Jim for the nice words of support, I'm still far from becoming a master in leatherwork!
