  1. Sounds like what Jester1 is describing is what is called a 'ching sling'. Check brasstacker. They sell them with the stabilizing loop for mosins and other rifles.
  2. Me and a friend both bought springfield armory xdm 9mm with suppressor heigth sights and added streamlight tlr1 weapon lights. Problem . No one makes a holster to accomodate yet. So i made this test pair. I will be making some adjustments to the pattern soon and making another pair but works pretty good so far. Also you can see stitching is not quite completed when i took these.

  4. Not bad at all for a first try? Id say keep at it. May have a natural here.
  5. It's tandy Eco flo range tan and timber brown around edges with super sheen . Will put snow proof weatherproofing by fiebings on it too.
  6. Agree, with a single wide belt loop OR moving the two closer in towards center. I like to leave just a little play in the belt loop so it can give a bit when sitting or what not. Especially in a car. A case needs to be able to pivot just slightly for comfort. Not be floppy tho. Once worn for a day or two we tend to learn what works well and what doesn't. I always like to try the first of anything I make before giving/selling to others. Then make changes as needed. Some people just really want what they want regardless if I advise them against or for certain types of features. Personally I don't care for clips on my phone cases. I don't have a need to remove and replace from my belt ever. Someone who goes through metal detectors a lot may feel differently. All about intended use. Molded part looks pretty good. I like to do my cases a friction fit with a finger slot to push up the phone enough to grab, and this works well for me. Flaps just tend to be in the way all the time. Taking out and when putting in. But again all depends on the owners intended use.
  7. It is formed over a wood mold block that is the shape of the case. A presser plate then pushes down all around the edges and it is then allowed to dry for a day or so until rigid enough to be removed and allowed to dry the rest of the way completely. The liner is soft pigskin and is added after the molding process. I use barge cement or 3m spray adhesive and have had good results with both. The block inside is also leather and adds rigidity for easier snapping and crush protection. It is also glued in place. After all hardware is installed and the two halves are stitched together, i trim the edges and burnish them and touch the edges up with dye and finish.
  8. One small thing I notice is the top cover is slightly too narrow to cover the opening. Other than that looks pretty good I think.
  9. I made this for my ballet dancing daughter. She will be using to carry her ipad mini and there is some extra space in there for a book or earbuds or some other girlstuff. Anyway , still need to make shoulder strap this weekend but its turning out pretty nice i thought so wanted to post. Ugh. Wont let me post pics.
  10. I was thinking it looked upside down, then i read mlapaglias post. 😜
  11. I have used a creaser but not dividers. On this i preferred to have the stitches at or below surface level.
  12. Leather is slightly thicker than I prefer, but very rugged. Last forever I would think.
  13. Thanks. I like those snaps. I may use some of those in future projects but currently have no need for snaps.
  14. Thanks, i will be making more of these in the future as they sell easily . On the next ones i will not be stitching thru the straps. Didnt like that after i did it. Other than that i am happy how they turned out.
