  1. Not finished yet but I wanted to get some thoughts on this. The rest of the holster will be finished in acorn brown or a light brown probably.
  2. I wetted the inside of it. To my surprise it is water tight. I used a metal block to 'push' out the corners. I have various sized blocks for doing different tasks. They come in quite handy.
  3. Used a rough edge piece of scrap leather to make this. Nothing fancy just a quick simple project.
  4. Wyoming slick, how did you bend it? Did you put it in a vice and give it a yank? Or did it bend during being used the way it was intended to be used?
  5. It really was. First leather item I ever made was an axe cover.
  6. This was my second project ever. First was an axe cover.
  7. North mount - thanks for the info, I figured it was something like that, but I am not very computer smart. I will have to play around til I find the way that works. Thanks
  8. I don't know what y'all are talkin about , pic looks fine on my iPad.
  9. Dunno, it's right side up for me when I view it. Just turn your computer over.
  10. Thought y'all might like to see this. My dad made this stitching horse. Pretty cool. Holds tight too. It is Foot operated. Will add a removeable spring in between jaws later so it will open by itself when foot pressure is released
  11. Thanks for the suggestions. But the phone does fit quite snugly as it is so not worried at all about it falling out, and as for pickpockets... it's a 3G so they can have if they want it that bad. Not under contract either .lol. Since it's a touch screen iPhone, I prefer to not grab by the top of screen. Usually I will push it up from the bottom first then grab the sides to remove the rest of the way from the holster all in one motion. What I would definitely do different on the next one tho is to make the belt loop specifically for the belt being used. I left the loop on the back of this a little larger like 2 inch to accommodate many belts even tho my main belt is 1.5 inch, so the holster does hang a little loose on the belt. That is the main Change I would make. I do love getting suggestions tho, thanks !
  12. Not trying to be rude, but $25 is on the low side. That may only cover materials. A leatherworker could easily spend a couple days time , a few hours each day, making what you have described, depending on how much detail n tooling and such things. They have purchased special tools that allow them to do things with leather that majority can not or will not try. Personalization, to have the only one in the world, what is it worth? What is the workers time spent at a bench worth? Minimum wage? for 16 hours would be $112 just for time/ labor, not including materials. Even if only 4 hours were spent, 4x7(min wage)= $28+ Add materials... Over $50 easy....Is a leatherworkers time, tools, knowledge, craftsmanship, etc. worth more than min wage? I would say it is. Just a few things to think about... And remember , quality handmade leatherwork will be passed down generations, store bought will be passed into a trash can in a couple years.
