  1. Inkscape and Gimp are both great, lots of tutorials on the net for both. The issue with these apps is learning to work with layers and different file types.

Briefcase made from oil tanned leather with black thread and the edges dyed black. The leather is "RanchHand" from Springfield Leather, it's great stuff to work with. This oil tanned leather really is beautiful leather to make bags and accessories with. The bag measures 13" wide, 11" tall and 3" deep. I used 8 square feet of leather to make the bag, I was sweating all the way to the last stitch. I learned a great deal about measuring my projects before ordering the leather. I made the pattern based on the size of a legal pad.

Leather handbag I made for my wife, this is the English Chestnut oil tanned leather from Springfield Leather. Great looking leather and great to work with. I'm a newbie, so working with leather that's not from the remnant bins is a pleasure. I only bought a few square feet of two kinds from Springfield Leather, it's nice stuff. I'm hooked.
  22. I cut my corners using a washer as a guide, then make a mark for the stitches with a wing divider. Then use the wing divider set the same distance as your four prong chisel. Example, if your four prong chisel has the prongs 2 millimeters apart, set the divider to be 2 milli apart, mark the holes around the rounded corner. Then poke the holes with a stitching awl. A good wing divider set can replace about 3 different tools.
  23. I just now saw this and its six weeks later, so sorry. I didnt find on the forum either. Tboyce put it up months ago as a "cross body bag". I will send you the pdf as a message.

IPad bag, has pockets for smart phone, business cards and D-rings for other attachments. Dyed with British Tan dye, hand stitched, every single stitch. Since i do this as a hobby, i learn a lot every time i start a project without a pattern or template. Thanks for looking.
  25. Keep it simple,,,pick up a cheap glass cutting board from a dime store, stick a electric window candle under it,,trace away.. I dye and cut on one of those cutting boards, they are tough enough to draw on, Dye wipe off with a little water, you can tape paper down while tracing.
