Thanks for the responses, 1 gentleman sent me a NICE Christmas present of tools, still no word from the police, so I figure its unlikely to get any tools back,To the other gentleman in tn, thanks for the offer, I did appreciate it and look forward to meeting you sometime!

Freds and Dollar Tree both have cheap binder clips! I like the spice rack idea, thanks -- would be cheap to make from pine as well. I have been using trays from microwave meals for storage and dyes. I have some that had a separate tray for sauce, makes a great spot for thinner or just to set a brush in! Block of 4x4 cut on the diagonal makes a great tool storage -- if some a hole hasnt stolen your tools that is! Just cut and drill some holes! And dont forget that most hated store of all -- Harbor Freight -- get those cheap hammers and gloves there. Can usually get nitrile gloves for 7.50 bucks or so, and then use a coupon!! Oh recycled HDPE can make lots of cool tools, have not tried it yet but saving it up. A maul is easily made on a table saw or lathe, and the plastic for the head is fairly cheap in 3 in rods. Just add weight to your liking! Rawhide dog bones can be soaked and molded into a nice rawhide maul. Just soak, unroll, reroll into the shape needed, soak in shellac for a while, dry and done -- my next project for a new hammer

well, lucked out on a few things -- they threw some templates on the floor so still have my strap end templates from black river! Also found my mini punch and 4 tubes, it isnt much but its that much less i need to replace. And blowing up facebook local buy here pages, maybe i will get lucky. Thanks for the sympathy and good wishes, it helps!

Never thought of a go fund me page, may try it. Just seems like begging to me, and i hate asking for anything from anyone. Thanks for the idea though! Well at least the local investigator is trying to help, we have good folks on the force here, just well its a SMALL town force!

No one ever went broke selling crap to the mass market -- and making them want it! As far as the diet i like the sea food diet -- I see it i ate it!
-
I live in a very small county, reported it and gave the investigator a pretty good list but i am sure I have missed a few things.Need to run around to the Mennonite and Amish leather guys around, talk to them. I am known in that community so hopefully if they get offered any i will find out. Posting it on Facebook as well, who knows -- I dont expect to get anything back but I can dream, right? LOL

Not sure if they knew what they were stealing -- they left batteries, solar panels, lathes and inverter and a charge controller. Not to mention they didnt touch a couple 4 wheelers and a boat. Appreciate the sympathy, been a bad month so far!

Some lowlife broke into the new house on Thanksgiving and stole all my leather tools as well as my power tools/hand tools. Wish I had been there, but maybe I will get lucky and they will come back while I am there! Well at I have a few tools left, my maul, couple swivel knives(not the best, but neither am i LOL), and some leather -- Wish I could find that sucker!

I have a Boss, it takes some fine tuning, but works nice when set up. I like mine since it is portable and goes anywhere.

Doing a western style belt, using I guess about 8/9 oz leather and going to line with 2/3 oz -- should I make the billet from the same leather or maybe do 4/5/6 oz lined with the 2 oz? Never did this style before, just doing one for me to practice on!

I got one of the older machines from a friend, the machine was full of corn -- not sure what was storing it in there! Cleaned it, played with it and then had to do the dreaded call to customer disservice. And found instead, customer service! They are really helpful folks there.

Not a real big foot, its for a short Sasquatch! Need a 14 w or 15 moccasin pattern if someone has one, not good at making the patterns yet! Thanks for looking !
-
Hey, does anyone have a moccasin pattern for a 14 wide or a 15 shoe size? I really dont want to cut off too many toes! LOL thanks

Thanks for the help -- give this a try this week!

Hey got a pair of those jumker sandals from that big box store we all love to hate. Of course, with my size 15 flippers, they are useless! So I am thinking of gluing a piece of leather on top and get rid of the junk plastic straps -- has anyone ever tried this and is it doable? Was just going to use contact cement to hold it all together. Thanks

Tipp Man Boss Skipping Stitches
tnhomestead replied to glockanator's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I just got a used one and the customer service so far is fantastic -- now I do call back instead of waiting for them, I figure they get busy. I got one of the original machines, all cast iron and steel gears. Just started playing with it and so far so good. I may send it back for a real cleaning, but right now all I need to do (I hope) is get the tension adjusted. It does sound like the tension on the bobbin is off to me, maybe it was not wound as good as it could be? Try this site for some info, maybe something there to help you.Tippmann boss blogspot -
I had some 6x6 left over from the new house, so asked a Mennonite friend to split it on a 45 angle, but not corner to corner, but from 1.5 in from the corners. now to throw it on the drill press with a bit of an angle, and will have 2 awesome tool holders! Did i mention the pieces are about 18 in long?

Leather Burnishers - Poor Customer Service
tnhomestead replied to Pounder's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Luckily I have a nice powered hood for turning the nasty stuff, between that and my vacuum setup I dont usually get much sawdust to breathe. probably turn some in a couple weeks, I need a new one and I like the design.
