  1. I have to say I am beyond impressed. I have not had th pleasure of meeting Mr. Main, but have had the honor of meeting Mr. Linnell. He is amazing to watch as he works. No patterns , no pictures, just creative energy. He is a fine gentleman as well. Both times he has been to the Baltimore (Essex, Md. ) Tandy , i have watched him. He created a pair of identical freehand leather feathers, so tiny my sister wears them as earrings. He is the first person I have ever seen do embossing first hand. I am honored to be a part of such an amazing group of leather workers. From Top Notch to newbies, this site rocks! kimber
  2. Hi All, I am searching for a small celtic stamping tool. I have both of the Tandy 3D stamps. What I am looking for is something that I can use as my own personal stamp. For when my work is finished. I have been using the 3 D celtic knot but on many of my items it is way too large to use. If anyone has any of the old Baron celtic tools that they are willing to part with. I would love to give them a home. Thanks , Kimber
  3. The Group is James Gallagher and Off the Boat, http://www.offtheboat.us/. The translation is simply, "i love you". Go Irish!
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am a teacher and just wanted to warn you to be careful using the overhead transparencies on all printers. The film has a tendency of heating and melting , ruining your printers. It is also thicker than paper and will jam constantly. Make sure the printer you use is transparency capable. Just my two cents of educational knowledge. Hope no one minds. kimber
  5. Summer Fling. i wanted something summery last year. So i created the pink bucket bag. The color was difficult to find, so i created it myself. I took one dawber , let it soak in the bottle of OX Blood Dye and then put it in a bottle of reducer. The color was perfect for me. The crystal rivets was a nice touch of whimsey. The Straps detach and can link together for a shouler strap. I put small d rings on the insde for keys. i do that with most of my bags. The top is folded down and glued before the ribbon went through it. All in all , it is one of my favs.
  6. Celtic Knotwork is my favorite thing to carve. The guitar straps are 3 differnt designs that i did for my favorite local Irish group. They are getting more and more popular and have promise to wear my straps on their newest album cover.
  7. Thank you both. I have been carving and tooling fora few years , but that stamp is new to me. This was my first attempt. It is a doozy!
  8. Hi all, Just finished this one today. i thought i would add some of my work since i have been admiring all of yours. i hope you like them. kimber [attachment 7193:6_finish...carousel.JPG]
  9. I used to work for Tandy , my sister still does. Good people , great networking. Through Tandy i now work for a Stropping Company. If i had not started at Tandy i would never have become a leather artist. I love what i do and i love the people in this company. Besides, it is 15 minutes from my home. To me what better way to buy the product then to touch the product. kimber
  10. Next Month Tandy in Baltimore Md, will be having thier Anniversary sale. Call the store 410-780-9699 and ask what kind of a sale they will have on thier swivel knives. I beleieve they are having a 50% off any one item deal as well. Call now and ask for a flyer as to what thier sale items will be. No, i don't work for the store , but my sister does. LOL. Ask for Pat . I am pretty sure of that sale of 50 % off any one item , excluding leather and machines, and they send it UPS.
  11. I actually use an Al Stolman swivel knife. It is nice. Just as nice as any others i have used. IMHO,any swivel that fits you is what you should use. The most important thing about that swivel knife is how comfortable it fits in your hand. I find that a knife is like the leather, I am not buying it unless i can touch it. To me the more important part of the tool is the blade. I have a steel blade, and a also a ruby tip blade, But i use my ceramic blade for almost every job i do. No finer blade to be found. IMHO.The best thing to do is go to a store that will allow you to play with the blades as well as the knives. Any Tandy store should allow that. Good luck , just don't stop tooling. Psst, I have also found that for the finest of details , a scalpel is the cat's meow!
  12. Thank You very much. :D
  13. Hello Everyone, A friend found this site and directed me to it. I am a leather worker from Maryland. Myexpertise is in tooling/ carving. I am interested in getting better at my stitching and to also learn more about harness work. I am including a link to some of my items. I do not do this full time as I love it so much if it became a way of life I think it would loose it's appeal. kimber http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimberangel/
