Yes, was a compilation of a smaller bag I had made my other daughter a few years ago, and some bags I had seen here and on line. Took a couple pieces of Bristol board used for erasable markers (stiffer than plain Bristol board) and tape, but now I have it in case insanity hits me again. I usually will make patterns for larger projects after working out proportions/measurements on paper. Photos is her having packed it to fly home. That is true

Thanks I am pleased with how it came out, and learned some new things so win all the way around. Thanks

Final measurements on it were 15 1/4” height x 22 1/4 “ length x 6”;wide, support straps are under a yard each, handles are around 18” each, then interior pockets and exterior pocket. So a lot. I had alot of it as left overs. Hoping it lasts a lifetime, if not hers at least mine as it took some time to hand-stitch interior and exterior and finish bag.

Thanks and close too, she has stuffed it for travel.

I do appreciate the suggestions and help. Thanks again

Thanks but handles were made for that purpose, and to her specifications. Pictures are somewhat deceiving as to size. My daughter is just over 5’7” tall shown here with bag, she has been comfortable with length

Thanks it is almost big enough to be a saddle, ha ha Thanks

I had previously asked for some help with rolled handles. Here is the tote bag that they went on. My Daughter had wanted a large tote for travelling, market runs, general use. After putting her off for sometime due to other projects, she reminded me she still wanted same. Here is finished project. It is huge and she has been putting it to good use. First time doing a drop in lining. Lots of work and a Kwan’s doing the hand stitching on it but it seemed to turn out ok.

Thanks to all, I jumped off the deep end with a thicker leather as the tote bag is quite big, they are a beast but should work. Need to finish the stitching on one and then trim both . Thanks again showed my daughter and she is happy with result, will trim up and attach to tote bag when I finish it.

What is the best weight of leather for doing a rolled handle. I plan on having a cord inside. I have 2-3 oz, & 4-5 oz available.

Very nice I also like the look of the ostrich, is that it’s original colour?

Vote for leather, very nice tooling.

Nice work, I also like the pattern and how your colour came out.

Found that it is not as hard as it looks, fiddly at first, but it works out. Thanks, patience has finally hit after all these years. Thanks

They sent me some great photos when they presented them with the bags. Couple thanked me as they will replace the ziplock bags the have been using.

My Daughter got married a couple of weeks ago, I volunteered to make the Groomsmen and Bridemaids gifts for them. They bought some grooming and beauty items to put in them. They were well received. Hand stitched (got new calluses to prove it), Mens bags and zipper border on women's were also dyed, both lined. New zipper skills learned, as they were cut from zipper chain and zipper slide added. I liked how they turned out.

Good stitching, I like the look of brass on my projects as well, it patinas so well with the leather.

Brown watch strap with orange stitching and lining

The straps are stunning, and thanks for the bit on your thought process and material selection. -
Interesting design should age very nicely. Always amazed how we whip off items for ourselves that we deem “good enough” while we try them to see how we can improve them.
