  4. I always check out the second hand stores for hardware and the such. I also keep an eye out for curbside leather furniture, have made quite a few projects out of "curb-cycled" furniture. This teddy bear was made out of an old recliner I scored for free on Craigs List.....
  5. It is a Simplicity sewing pattern 7826. I made some minor changes to adapt it to leather. The ears are changed for instance ,wasn't happy with the way the originals turned out.

  7. I know this is probably a long shot, but does anyone on here know a fellow named James (Jim) Langford? He is a Viet Nam vet and a leatherworker from last I knew Arizona. I haven't heard from him in about 10 years and can't seem to find out where or what he is up too.

  9. 16X20" painted with acrylics and some embossing on the bodies and heads of the ducks. I just reframed it with some old barn wood.
  10. "Stitching grover: I rarely use one. I like the stitches sitting on the top, I feel it looks better." A stich groover is used to set the thread flush with or slightly below the suface of the leather, so that the thread will not get worn out as quickly.......

  13. Here is how I cut strap pionts. Set your dividers to the width of the strap to be cut. Set your dividers along side the strap and swing them in an arc across the opposite side of the strap. Repeat this for the other side. Cut with your edged weapon of choice, I use a head knife and make a series of straight cuts to my scribed lines. After a quick sanding job there you have it.....

  18. I use beeswax. I moisten the edge with a damp sponge then rub the beeswax in to the edge. I then burnish with my machine or by hand with a heavy peice of canvas that I have for that purpose.

  21. I don't think the color is as deep, if that makes sense, you get a really deep black when you do it over a blue base.......just my 2 cents.
  22. I dye blue let it set until the next day, then dye black and wait another day. buff with a terry cloth towel and oil or finish as needed.
  23. I am trying to find out if any one out there has a tried and true formula for the measurement of the drop loop style gun belt. I have tried searching the site to no avail and all the holster and belt makers online say they have a formula for doing this.........any ideas? Thanks.
