  1. A bugger? Really? What do you think I should try first?
  2. I had a conversion last week with the tenant of the shop where I get my dye, he told me that if I wanted vibrant color I must use a dye that has some kind of pigmentation, the problem is that it will bleed on cloth if leather gets wet so I picked the traditional dye instead without pigmentation so no vibrant color. Don't know about eco-flow as those brand aren't available where I live.
  3. Hello, I just bought this vintage leather jacket on the bay and I wonder what could be done with it. I still don't receive it so these are pictures from the listing. I don't know if it would be possible to remove those stains, maybe apply something to make it a little darker, I am not sure so I'd like to hear some ideas from you fellow crafters.
  4. Wow, great work! It looks heavier than the chinese.
  5. Yes it described as twisted but the one on the wallet look twisted to me too. By the way, is twisted considered not as good a braided?
  6. I have no idea what it is, I haven't tried maine thread but I bought this from ebay, it look similar...haven't receive it yet so can't recommend but here you go: http://www.ebay.com/itm/152094919232?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=451297745843&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  7. Ok, I undetsand, I use a chilean local brand unknown for the rest of the world and it is alcohol based but I though that Fiebings Pro Oil dye was actually oiled based. Good to know because I was going to buy fiebeings on ebay just for that. I recently applied coconut oil on a brown dyed strap and result seems pretty good, I was thinking about doing the same on some other colors but they would get much darker, that's why I though about fiebings oil dye. I will try to apply conditioner on the leather after the dye and before the sealing to see how it goes. Thanks.
  8. Hello, downhere where I live I can only find alcohol based dye, colors are ok but I feel like the leather feels dry, I wonder if oil based dye would make the leather a bit soft and more confortable. Has someone around here had the opportunity to try both kind of dyes that could give me his advice?
  9. Very nice work, would love to build one for me someday. If I understood correctly stiffener is just a piece of leather, right? (English is not my mother tongue.)
  10. I grab a noce piece of leather that is 0,9mm thickness, I thought I could use to make watch strap but now I think it is too thin so I'm looking for another idea on how to use it. Any idea?
  11. Thanks for your answer, I think I' gonna go with the kiwi wax, but just to know how is the process of deglazing?
  12. Hello, I recently bought these shoes and I realize I would like them to be darken. I have a brown dye that I like a lot which I used to dye this watch strap. How can I apply the dye I like on the shoes? Should I do something to the shoes before applying the dye?

  14. Hello, I make watch straps and I have troubles finding the right thick pieces of leather. I would love to be able to this down the leather I have. I've found some pro machine on ebay that cost about US$300 or more, but also this one that cost US$125, do you have any idea if I can use it as I need.
  15. Thanks, client says it can also be a kind of pocket, not necessarily wet formed.....I need an idea.....
  16. Hello folks, a client asked me to make a wet formed leather strap like you see on the picture for his watch. I understand I need to wet the leather to mold it on the watch but the pushers on the side of the watch makes it very difficult. Any idea is welcome. Is it ok to do it with chrome tanned leather or does is it need to be done with vegetable leather?
  17. I can't tell you about brands as I'm located in Chile and I buy this stuff from an unbranded local factory. Keep looking at the forum and on ebay for dye and finishes. The product I put in the border is called gum tragacanth.
  18. Hello, I'm used to dye leather with 1 color and to obtain a main color as on the first picture. I'd like to know how to get the look of the second picture.
  19. I'm no expert, I haven't read any book, but this is how I do it. First when I finish the stitch I don't burn the end, I hide the the thread between leather layers. I work on small things so I just pull the needle between the leather till the other side and sometimes put a tiny amount of loctite just to be sure the thread won't move. When I do this I don't end both stitch at the same hole to avoid your problem, so the last hole has already 1 thread "layer". Then I just start from that hole with the new thread. Again, I am no expert so I'm sorry if this sound stupid.
  20. I just received this one from china: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301196666744?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=600258965687&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It is 0.8mm flat waxed thread. I don't plan to use it on watch straps but I share anyway as it is cheap and looks good.
  21. Bought it yesterday, now I just have to wait for 1 month till it get down here. Thank you for your help.
