  1. Hello, I wanted to share my first handbag, I worked slowly just to avoid any mistake, as it is the first I make. Leather is waxed leather.
  2. Thanks a lot for your help, I followed your suggestion and was able to fix it. Now, is there a smart way to build a bag so that when the time comes to replace the zipper the bag does not have to be dismantled completely? This is my first attempt to build a bag and according to model I am making I see that it will just be like that. What happens if I sell the bag and the zipper failed 2 months later or even 1 year later, how to deal with that situation? http://www.ebay.com/itm/232040159847?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  3. The zipper does not close anymore. I think it might be related to my stitching because I tried it several times before stitching and it was working fine until I finished the stitch, if you look at the pictures there is some ondulation on the leather maybe I pull the thread too much while stitching. On the other side I was thinking that when the zipper start failing the bag will have to be dismantled almost completely just to replace the zipper, that's why I was asking about zipper substitute. Here's the bag I am making: http://www.ebay.com/itm/232040159847?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. I was building an inside pocket for a bag and as soon as I finished the stitching the zipper start failing. I am pretty sure that the fail comes from the way I stitch the zipper so...Is there a secret to stitch a zipper? ...Or what could I use instead of a zipper for an inside pocket, as zipper is going to fail sooner or later anyway. Will post picture tomorrow.
  5. I use tokolone on chrome leather, results depends on the leather. It works quite well on oily leather, otherwise I don't like it very much.
  6. Will try that, does it have to be real lemon or lemon juice from the supermarket does works too?
  7. Can't return it, it is scrap leather, but that's not a problem because it was cheap. I just wish I could remove the smell.
  8. It's chrome tanned, no hair on it. I could skive the flesh side but it would make it too thin. I tried soaking it with white vinegar but the smell comes back the next day. If I don't get rid of that smell I will have to throw it. Could I try putting it in the washing machine?
  9. Hello, I have some pieces of chrome leather that I would like to use for watch straps but after my first try I realized that it does not smell very nice. I tried putting it in direct sun for a couple of hours but bad smell is still there. Do you have any tip to fix this?
  10. Thanks. I just realized I could use the smooth button on both side with the snaps I have, I though I'd need some kind of special snaps.
  11. Hello, I just found out how to use the tool I got from ebay to instal a snap on leather and I was curious to understand if there's something like double cap snaps. Explanation: in the attached picture they used a snap to close and open the handbag, is there a way the snap looks like that on both side? Usually there's a front and back side but it this case they are both visible. Not sure I made myself clear.
  12. Could you show us a picture of the tool you use to burnish the flesh side please? I'd like to try that. I use it for burnishing and I like it but it's the only brand that I have tried so I can't compare. It's for sale on ebay.
  13. Hello, I make watch leather straps and I've found that sometimes when I use minimal stitch the 2 pieces get unglue after a couple of weeks of use. I use Tear Mender. When that happens I apply loctite to fix the problem but I would like to find a glue that works from the beginning for this kind of use. Any suggestion?
  14. Has anyone tried tis edge paint? Is it really from outer space? Is Giardini also heatable? Or this is the only one.
  15. Just finished it. Not the cleanest construction but will redo the holes when I get a new drill.
  16. Helo, I just finished my home made pony. It's not as bigger as it look like. I used some recoup wood so it was extremely cheap. I was thinking about using those rubber band for pressure but I think that I will use it to hold the moving piece so it does not fall when not in use. For pressure I think a clamp is the easier way to go....unless you guys have a better idea.
  17. Yes, what's up with the missing colors? I wanted to try the blue in 0.6 but it's never available.
