Belt design help
indidana replied to indidana's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I'll be buying the buckle so I can get it whenever. But does the way I make the belt change, as far as measuring it from the button stud instead of the prong, to the center hole?- 5 replies

Hi! A guy wants me to make him a belt with this skull buckle. (pic attached) Do I make it the same as I would with a regular buckle? I think I remember reading somewhere that with these different style buckles you have to measure the belt differently. Help!

ISO sig p320c holster pattern
indidana replied to indidana's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Hey chiefjason, thank you! Any chance you'd be willing to share your pattern? (assuming you used one) I can't find ANYTHING for sig patterns. -
See that's what I was thinking, too. But she just wants two compartments, and I had envisioned doing it the entire length of the bag, instead of across it using the ornamental piece stitch lines.

A friend's wife wants me to make this tote for her. She wants me to add a piece of leather to separate the interior into two compartments. One side for her gun (a 1911) and the other for her makeup, wallet, etc. I don't have a clue how to add the piece she wants without adding another stitch line to attach it to the bag. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

He wants the whole hood made out of white leather. That's why I told him I'd ask around. Otherwise I'd tell him to buy one similar to the pic he sent.

A guy contacted me this morning and asked if I can make a blinker. I cannot, but told him I would ask around. Any takers?

I want to make a braided wallet chain, but I don't know what to use. My husband says to cut strips of lightweight leather. I say lace. What width is best for a 4 plait braid to use for a wallet chain?

No way, I'd much rather pay you for it! I enjoy free as much as the next person, but you put a lot of work into these! -
Ruger 1911 Wet Mold Holster Help!
indidana replied to indidana's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I sent him a snapshot of this one to see if he would be interested in a pancake holster. I'll see if he'd like this one, too. Thank you! -
Ruger 1911 Wet Mold Holster Help!

Thank you both, Josh and JLS. JLS, you're always my go-to for holsters! I checked your etsy shop soon as my friend asked me for help. I suggested he try reshaping the holster and asked what else he doesn't like about it/what's wrong with it. He said "It don't feel like real leather or smell like it and I don't know how it's going to hold up its a little than I would like too." He wants something he can conceal, which is why I think he wants to carry it on his back, upside down like that. Mostly I think he just likes the looks of it. -
Ruger 1911 Wet Mold Holster Help!
indidana replied to indidana's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Josh, that's why I asked here. I was hoping someone had a tried and true holster pattern I could buy. I'm trying to exhaust all my options before I tell my friend that I can't help him. -
I do have the gun to work with. This guy and my husband have the same gun so I can use my hubby's to work with. How do I add slots/belt loops?
-
I apologize, I didn't even see you had linked to a pattern. Thank you! I'm probably making this much too difficult, but how do I use a pattern like that to achieve the holster he wants? Also, what is the tension screw? Is it necessary?

Ruger 1911 Wet Mold Holster Help!
indidana replied to indidana's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
This is what he ordered. -
This is the holster he wants. I believe the guy he ordered from took a picture of the holster from a sportsmans website to pass off as his own. I emailed the company to see if they also sell on Amazon before I make any accusations. It's a pretty shitty thing to not only pass people's work off as your own, but to do a piss poor job on top of it. Oh! Unless this company does also sell (crappy) holsters on Amazon, this guy is using their company name, too. I've included the picture of the holster he thought he was getting.

Ruger 1911 Wet Mold Holster Help!
indidana replied to indidana's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
If he wasn't a friend I wouldn't bother with the job. Hell, if my husband didn't have a 1911 I could work with on this holster I wouldn't bother with it. I take it there's no pattern out there similar to what I'm looking for? Even without the insane number of slots on the back? Or anything remotely close to it that I can show him? Everyone tells me to do this or this or this, but I don't even know where to begin on a holster, so none of these tips, while greatly appreciated, are helping me. I need a base, a template or pattern. Somewhere to start. -
I'm not much into holster making. Where can I find a template for a 3 slot pancake? I don't think he'll go for it, he's pretty set on this one. He came to me about it months ago. Ended up buying it on amazon and now wants me to fix it.

I have zero holster pattern making experience. He wants all that on the back. He says he's not sure how he wants to wear it and wants all the options to get a feel for them. -
