  5. Recent project I finished up lined and tooled holster for a buddy up in Washington state. I was worried how it was going to turn out being molded and tooled but all is well. Back side
  6. I am 2+ years into my holster and gun leather business/hobby. I seem to be running into the NFL stage (No Friends Left) and need to start selling to "strangers".. I will be setting up at my first gun show in a couple months. I plan on taking orders, mostly, but plan to have an assortment of holsters for example work. I will be offering holsters, mag pouches, belts and slings. Any ideas on how best to approach a show setting? What pitfalls should I be aware of? This is a pretty good show, overall, in that they don't allow non-gun/knife/military vendors in the show. It's a pretty knowledgeable and driven group that comes in. Thanks for the feedback!
  7. I was wondering where everyone got their blue guns from? Ive looked around and seen them for around $50. Is that a fair price?
  8. I'm looking for a holster pattern/template for a sig p320 compact. Any type holster will do. My brother wants me to make one but I can't find any patterns! Also ISO a blue gun. I found bluegunstore.com, are there any other options? Thanks!!
  9. This my first attempt at making a holster and carving it. I have made knife sheaths before for the knives I make.
  10. I have an aluminum form gun or dummy gun for sale. Holster maker's pattern. It is a Colt 1911, full size, with a rail. I'm asking $30 plus $5 shipping. Reach me by email at norm.wear@gmail.com
  11. I am starting two projects for someone (pancake holsters). They both shouldn't be a problem but the one thing that concerns me is that he wants the guns to ride higher than normal. I imagine the highest I can place the rear of the ejection port is at the top of the belt line. One is a Colt Officer 1911 which may be OK but the other is Glock 23 and my concern is the pistol wanting to "fall away" from the body due to the weight of a double stack mag. I plan to use horse hide as the reinforcing piece which should stabilize it more. Does anyone have any suggestions.
  12. I am looking for a revolver pattern. I have someone at our local gun club that has one of the newer Ruger revolvers. the barrel length is 3". I have tons of fold over patterns but they are wanting something that has belt slots. One on the left two on the right, similar to a pancake style slot arrangement. I don't have to worry about tooling but they want it small enough it won't go to far out the bottom of a vest. They also want something that can be formed in my thin air press like I do with my semi auto holsters. Anyone got anything even close to this?
  13. Made from lightweight 5 oz leather, this unlined holster is in new, unused condition. Loop will fit any standard 1½ inch belt. Open bottom to keep dust & debris from collecting. Fits a 1911 style auto pistol. Channel groove included to protect front sights. Selling for $50 which includes USPS mailing. If interested, contact lilrays@ca.rr.com
  14. I made this sheath for a friend in Arkansas who runs a pawn shop and recently bought this handmade knife. The gentleman who makes the knives is excellent at making knives, but not as good at making leather sheaths! Then I made this holster from horse leather for an older Ruger Service Six .357 Mag. It is a nice older gun, and I tried to make a holster that was attractive and hand formed without being too fancy. He wanted something simple.
  15. Other than a couple of knive sheaths, this is my first real leather project. I am thinking about adding some ammo loops but am not sure which method to use yet. This took much longer than I expected. I am new to this forum and would like to thank everyone for all the good tips and info found here. Without this forum, I don't think I could have done this. I am left handed and buying a store bought holster is very limited to say the least. Sorry, my pic will not attach. I am trying to figure it out.
  16. A am trying to figure out which blue gun model matches Taurus 709 slim. I was on the bluegunstore site and rings site and saw one that was close but it looked like it the BG had 3 buttons on the slide and the photo of the 709 slim had 2 I think.
  17. My first shoulder holster. Customer seemed real pleased. As always would do a few things different.
  18. I have been asked to do some left side holsters. To date all of my holsters have been right side or for right handed shooters. Some of my patterns it's gonna be easy just a matter of flipping the pattern over. Others not so much. One of the ones up in the air in the avenger style. With those patterns can you just flip those for lefties? Trying to figure out the best way to handle avenger and pancake paddle holsters for lefties. Thanks
  19. So I started doing holsters around Feb of this year these are a few I have done and would like you guys to help me. Just some pointers about my edges and my sewing. I know my lines are alittle off which I purchased a sewing machine and they will be getting better. Ok enough of my rambling any tips will be greatly appriciated. The small 380 was my first and the paddle holster is my latest I did use my new burnishing tool attached to my drill press on it. I still want to get a small belt sander to even out the edges but the new burnisher is amazing ordered it from a guy in Utah off eBay good price and great piece. Thanks Gregg Workingmanleather
  20. So I've been bitten by the leather bug pretty bad, and I really enjoyed making my first two gunbelts. With that in mind, I was thinking about different ways to improve on them in terms of ruggedness. I know of a manufacturer that reinforces their belts with Kydex, but I think that would be too stiff and uncomfortable. Another company uses three layers of leather, but in a cost standpoint, that's a bit too expensive for me (though it is a good idea). With all that in mind, I have been thinking about a potential reinforcement material on and off, and than it hit me..why not use Tyvek? Ultra thin, near bullet proof, and if glued and stitched between a two-layer belt, would perhaps be just the right amount of reinforcement to help the belt keep its shape. I can't see Tyvek adding any meaningful amount of stiffness or loss of flexibility, so what do you guys think? To be honest, I was a bit hesitant at first about posting my idea because I was thinking that I could make it something like a "trademark" feature that I use in my belts, but what the heck, if y'all can benefit from it, than I'm happy to help! Alamo
  21. Hey there, I just picked up a Taurus PT709 Slim and made my first from scratch holster for it. I made a few little errors, mainly that rivet that is off a bit. The loops are a little long, but I made them with a 2 inch belt in mind. I find it to be more comfortable than my Crossbreed holster that I spent close to $100 on for another gun. The retention is very good as well.
