  1. I am sorry to say Bob but I talked to vickie Friday afternoon they are no longer saling there stuff you now have to go to the horses mouth and I spoke to that mouth Friday afternoon and it is just so you can't get it from vickie any more or hitching post supply. Josh
  2. Ok I think I now what you are saying, first off if am way in left field with this I am sorry but with outs a picture it hard to know, Have you ever wet molded a round corner before, if not I will start with the basics, the piece needs to be cut a lot larger than the end size reason is when molding the corners they are tuff so you have two options you can make a mold of your lap top out if wood and then make out side clamp type mold this works nice but is time cosuming, the best way is to make the top piece Bigger and then when molding use small nails to hold the leather in place but when you get to the corners you make slits in the corners back of the finished size this let's the leather wrap around the corners better I can't post pics my coumputer is dead I am on my I phone. But this is how you make a nice smooth mold and get those wrinkels out. Hope this helps Josh
  3. Curt I have not used those inserts but I buy from them all the time they have a supplyhouse in arizona and it comes from there if you are in the US also they had a $200 minamum order but they are now opening up thing for retail type sales I can't think of the owners name but nice guy and works with people so any way that's the scoop the best I know, The owner was in arizona but is headed back to the land down under this week not sure when he will be back, but he has people working the orders for him Josh

  15. Lobo I think that makes sence oiling it a bit I also think you can mark it down that if you buy dry leather first of it dosent hold it's shape well in the long run and even with some oil it is not worth it, I am sure I don't know but what's the long term outlook say 10 years down the line in a moist area does the holster need more oil. Josh
  16. Thanks a lot Johanna for all

  17. I find it very interesting the thought that neatsfoot should be avoided on holsters I agree I merely said it because he said he wanted it soft and we all know how it softens leather up how evevr the harder the holster IMHO the better fit you will have in the long run I don't use it on mine. I made a shoulder rig for a daranger this week and it was tight but it will loosen over time so I told the lady it was very good and break it in Josh
  18. Looks nice I like your clean work Josh
  19. Lexol For sure but he said it was water base dye and that should not dry it out like alcohol base would I mean I think this just needs some lexol Josh
  20. This is sounding a bit like the leather you used is not of the best quality is it Tandy stuff or what a piece of W&C is pretty soft even after molding, I have to bake mine to get them hard, I think this is a case of some less than top quality leather or it could be a piece hardened be the sun in that case you need more oil Josh

  24. I have done it either way and they each have ups and downs to me I like a nice coat of dye then oil then tan kote, and the dye is a take it or leave it depending on color. Josh
