  13. Ok so I am going to try to post a picture and see what happens, This is the second time I have tried to lay out a carving pattern. and so far I am happy with what I see. I am fairly new at this and if you see things that are not necessarily Sheridan style or places that I could improve I would love to know so I can continue to learn. So please leave me some feed back. I also thought it would be fun to post this picture and then others could finish it however they thought it would look the best and then either post a new picture with their finished pattern or even better tool it an post a picture of the finished piece. Let me know what you think. The paper is just a folded in half piece of copy paper Carving_template2.bmp Carving_template2.bmp

  16. The more I am around western cowboy gear the more I find out that most of it had a purpose and was not just for show. That being said, is their a reason that taps (not yours particularly but just the long style) were made so long or was it just for the looks?

  18. I dont want to wound rude buy trying to rush an answer here It is just that my uncle is on a trip and came across a Union Special 54200F sewing machine that is for sell for $200. He told me to find out if it was a good machine and call him back in the morning. He didnt give me a lot of details except that They have had them to a sewing place and had them checked out and they are in good condition. My uncle and I were going to go in on it together if it is heavy enough to do what we want. We are hoping to be able to sew things such as, Soft saddle panyards, Top packs, Canvas tents, Sewing a few layers of chap leather together and maby sewing 6 or 8 oz tooling leather to a peice of chap leather. If anyone has any info on this machine and could help me out that would be great. Sorry for the short notice. Thanks Scott

  20. how big of a hole punch do you use?
  21. The last pair I made (for myself) I packed the first one with horse hair and the second with Easter basket grass or what ever you want to call it. I cant tell the difference between the two and doubt the Easter grass will break down. the only down side is my wife always says she is going to tell the boys that it is filled with pink Easter grass. LOL

  23. any chance you can let us know how many models of each you have left?
  24. Russ, What is the best way to determine the correct size of saddle for a given person. the saddle is a 15 in wade and I am 5'11" Keith, Can I shape the ground seat and then go ride or do I need the seat on to determine the correct fit? I know this will take some trial and error to learn but is there some good resources for learning the best way to understand the way the ground seat should be shaped. What would even be better is knowing why the ground seat is shaped the way it is and why some thing make it more comfortable that others. Or what do you take into consideration when shaping a ground seat. I guess I just learn better when I know why you do something not just how. If I know why you do something and the purpose behind it I can usually figure the rest out a lot easier. Well thanks again for the help so far a do apreciate it. Keep it comming I am taking notes and eger to learn Scott
