I started buying old "Craftsman" magazines with Al Shelton's articles in them so I wanted to meet him. Even though he's retired he's still at his shop in Studio City, so my girlfriend and I went to meet him. We hung out with him and talked about leather and art for a couple of hours and looked at his creations. What a great artist and a great, friendly guy. He invited us to visit him again and we plan to. When my girlfriend and I were leaving in the car we both said "this was a great day".

Is Al Stohlman considered "California style"? What is the typical "California style"? I'm thinking it's what is kind of the standard style, but I could be wrong.
