  1. Now.. why do you want to pick on me? For 45 cents you get a 22"x28" piece of heavy paper/posterboard that will last you if you take care of your patterns. And one sheet will make plenty of small patterns. And yes that old wrapping paper isn't a bad idea for a onetime use. Well anyhow good luck to Monticore James
  2. Yes I definetly should have mentioned that timing adjustments is a last action. thatnks for clarifying that Bob. James
  3. Tk and I are on the same page here. Just draw out half, cut it out then fold to get the perfect pattern. use a 45 cent piece of white construction board/paper. just use it to get your basic pattern then transfer it to something a little more durable. good luck and just think simple. sometime we tend to outsmart ourselves to much. James
  4. As always, your right on Bruce. The best thing for me is that I got my name out there with a little attention. Thanks for all the help you give everyone, James
  5. That was exactly what I was thinking. It could also be that your needle is not in time with the shuttle hook. the shuttle hook should pick up the thread just above the eye of the needle while the needle is returning to the top and it sounds like it may be a bit late and possible splitting your thread. You might sew without the motor and watch to see if this is happening. I hope I ahven't misled you or confused you more that you already are. James Art and Neel correct me if I am wrong
  6. David, It definetly looks great with the lighter color and the highliter(?) in the tooling. Outstanding work as always and a great inspiration! Thanks for sharing, James
  7. Well the auction didn't get the turn out they were looking for. My mirror only pull $65 and I am sick to my stomach about it. Since there was no reserve placed on anything. Oh well, guess I will live. Maybe next time, James
  8. ATX, they all look great. I especially like the tooling on the handbag, and the portfolio. nice work and keep the pic coming, James
  9. hello, it may help some of the guys around here if you post a few pics of your own seat front and back so that we can see exactly what you are dealing with. might just get you a few more and quicker responses in the end. good luck and you can do it, James
  10. Hello Kliff, I only have one suggestion. On the seat back. I stop my decorative lace well short of going all the way around the "nose" of the seat. Many mounting brackets are long enough to over hang that lace and actually crush and break it when the bracket is wrenched down tight. See this pic: http://www.theobaldleather.com/fullgallery/pages/back.htm Other than this bit of advice, to looked great. Dave Theobald This right here just proves why this forum is the best. Because all of the top notch guys that are will to tell us... all of the little secrets like this. Thanks David And kliff, your seat is very, very nice. you have done an outstanding job. keep it up, James
  11. thats a tough basketweave pattern for me to get right but it looks like you have got all figured out. Nice job, have you thought about lining it for comfort. Looks good though, James
  12. Hello all, thank you so much for your kindness. As for how it is laid out--- The base of the frame is just 1x4's the hair/on is 4.25 wide laid in from corner to corner with the outside hanging wrapped over the edge and stapled down after stitching. one the hair piece is measured out and just laid Not attached to the frame. Place the elbows square just a little shorter than you think so that in the end you can stretch it tight. Glue them and sew one corner at a time, measuring and laying it back out each time. then finally sew all of the top pieces in place (floral on mine). now you are ready staple it to the frame starting at ther corners and pull it tight to the next one. once the outside is in place pull the hair/on tight to the inside of frame and staple it close to the top face edge. then just add the outer/inner frame. Note I am not very good at giving directions so if I lost you somewhere just let me know and I will try again. I should also mention I got the ides from a site that Kowboyboots posted awhile back, Thanks James
  13. Here is the mirror I just finished up today for a charity auction for a youth center here. This is the same project I was asking for critiquing on yesterday. Let me know what you think - good or bad. Enjoy, James

  16. yep they look complicated at a glance, good luck
  17. Its not the mystery braid. Its simply a slit in the center wherever you want your twist and then take the other end of the leash and pull it through. most of these are pulled through twice probably one cut. hope this makes since, James
  18. Hey that super work and a very nice color as well. Good Job, James
