I have Dr. Jacksons Hide Rejuvenator, will that work good?

Just wanted to post a pic of my first motorcycle seat. There are a few mistakes, but I learned a ton and hope to correct those on the second seat I'm working on. Still have to put the final finish/protection on yet, but here it is: What should I use for the final protection/finish?

Very Nice, what weight leather did you use on the top?

Ending the Mexican Basket weave on a solo seat

Thanks for the tip Troy. I'll try that. Thanks again to everyone that replied, I love this place! -
OK, one more question about my first seat. I'm guessing that the top piece of leather should be the same shape but larger because of the padding then the bottom? I used some project paper to cut out some templates to use and the top is larger, but the shape is a bit wider on the sides and a little bit shorter on the ends and that just doesn't seem right to me, but I'm not sure. I've checked it three or four times and it measures out that way every time, but when I think it through I keep thinking it should be the same shape, just bigger. The seat pan is a small solo seat. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Ending the Mexican Basket weave on a solo seat

I think I get the path, but what I have questions about is the part that says "Lace through the third slit, pushing the lace up between the leathers", I don't see how I can go through only one piece of leather and turn it out between the two pieces of leather because they are so close together. I couldn't do it when I did a couple of practice pieces. I must be doing something wrong. -
I'm about to tackle my first solo seat and was wondering how you finish the Mexican Basketweave on a solo seat? I have the stitching book from Tandy Leather and it seems confusing and almost impossible to finish it the way they say in that little book. Any pics or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'd like to work on Sheridan style tooling and my wife is interested in making purses, so I was wondering if there were any good books to purchase that would help teach me Sheridan style tooling and how to make purses and handbags? Also, if there are any good step-by-step resources on the web you could point me to that would be great. I will also be searching this site, but mainly I'm looking for good books and other resources, thanks.

Yeah, I thought it looked like you riveted it, but it was the finish washers that threw me, thanks and again, great job!!

The humble beginnings of my first seat.

I'm about to tackle my first seat and was wondering how you attach the bottom leather piece to the pan? By the way, excellent job!

OK, maybe I asked the question wrong. The latest practice piece I'm doing has a Koi on it and I covered the Koi with two coats of super sheen. It resisted the dye process great, but I'm not a huge fan of the shiny non-leather look of Koi now and was wondering what my options are now? If there is nothing I can do with it but live with, is there a different product I should use when I need a resist that doesn't look shiny?

I agree, it does look nice!

Looks Great!!

I think it might be easier to answer these questions if I throw up the picture I'm working from.

I'm doing this Koi and I have a couple of area's that I'd like some advice on how to tool them. Here is a pic of where I'm at: The three questions i have are: #1 - How would you tool the water area's? #2 - I want to tool the clouds on the left and I need them to look like each layer is farther away starting with the layers with the big curl on the end. #3 - What would you do with the scales? Just leave them cut in like they are now or add tooling> Or should I add just some tooling on the edges of the Koi to kind of give it some roundness? Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!

I new to this myself, but that sure looks great to me!
