You can try tea tree oil mixed with other saddle oils .The mold is very hard to get rid of but you can stop the spores from emerging from the leathers so it doesn't spread to your other skins. Also sometimes its not mold but the tallows or oils coming to the top of the skins try a hair dryer on the spots ant see if they disappear back into the leather.

You would use an open cell foam with a medium density you can get something close at ir specialty number ul 35 the foam has to be supportive but also be able to displace the air a lot of saddles will have vent holes under to allow the foam to sink as the knee is applied . You have to be careful working on older saddles it can be a can of worms and it probably doesn't fit the horse properly anyway. Hello I make bags like these I think the wear depends on the way its used and your design I try to add leather accents or straps that might take some of the wear but if its a great bag and the customer loves it they will buy another just disclose that this could happen and its not a defect but something that can happen with wear. I was also going to tell you I was in Ireland 4 years ago and of course I cant remember where I think Galway there was a shop making bags that had all the tools and machinery maybe you could look up the bag makers in the area might be a great place to learn

sorry for late reply been busy if you angle the foot down at the tip its more beveled if you angle the foot up at the tip its more gradual taper it also makes a difference your height of foot you need to practice adjusting the foot angle and height

This type is my favorite make sure the end is at an angle 45 is close and after you polish the outside run a piece of 600 grit sand paper or higher across the inside Greg B

Hello, When I make seams for saddles or bags I use different skiving methods on your piece I would do a step skive 10mm in for your margin this will give you a tighter seam and a smoother look I don't think you need to pleat the leather in the curve but could fold over after the seam is stitched. Also make sure your needle to thread and stitch size are matched so it pulls tighter on the seam and use a point needle. Its better to use a darker thread in the seams or match your leather color and of course you can pipe it also. Its better not to glue your seams you can clamp them and remove as you go. If you take more pictures of the pieces before you put them together I might be able to give you more ideas Gb

Hello Jeannie Your needle system for your machine is 135-17 and it looks like your thread range is probably 70 to 138 when I make the bags I use 138 top 90 bottom unless you can see the stitch on both side then 138 138 or 90 90 The needle sizes range from 140 to 160 for the 138- 90 combo , I prefer the140 needle or 22 size, outside the bag you would use an Lr needle so the box would look something like this, 135-17 size 140 LR ,for the inner bag construction and lining a 135-17 size 140L or point needle. I don't know what your thread number 8 works out to be 120 or 110 ? but for a nice stitch a 138, 90 is a great combo. On the Amann threads I use the serafil line. I might try you thread I'm always open to try something new. The green bag !! I just sold that bag you have a great eye!! The leather I use for that bag is from the Remy Carriat Tannerie the skins are called lagun Hermes uses this leather for some of there bags. For saddlery I use the Sellicalf and hunting these also make beautiful bags. I import my leathers from Carriat , Chamont, and Haas tanneries these are my favorite tanneries. Hopes this helps Greg B

Hello I use the f-2 tip mostly I have 2 one of the tips I grind down its easier if you have curves to follow. If you have a sewing machine I can tell you what needle system to use with the size of thread. Most fashion houses use the Amann threads 20, and 30 the thread lays very nice on the bag , you can order this thread in the states. Hello Nice job on your bag The lining is cool with your colors. I use a electric edger m3000 the irons crease the leather at the same time rounding the edge this works much better with the softer calf like Barenia it will also give you a flatter edge which will hold your edge paint better. Most of the time the outer bag if using a sewing machine is stitched with a Lr point needle for your angled stitch and the lining with a L or point needle.
