  1. I have a veg tan milled deerskin that measures 6oz thick but looks and feels like 8/9oz. Would this be suitable for a bag/briefcase? It is pretty pliable and has some stretch to it. I am looking at attempting my first bag for personal use and not really wanting to buy a new side if I don't have to. Yeah, I'm cheap. Thanks for any advice in advance.
  2. Sent a PM.
  3. Thanks for the tip, baroness. I'll look into that.
  4. I'm still debating between using this layout method: https://wkdesigner.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/vests-make-the-man/ or just trying to find a vest at my local thift store and disassembling it for a pattern. I see you are in Huntsville. I am in the Mobile area. Do you primarily order your leather online or do you have a local store? There are no local stores that sell anything of size down here. JC
  5. Hey all, I'm still pretty new to the leather game, but I'm trying to broaden my skillset. I have a half calf skin on order and I'm planning on making my first attempt at a vest with it. On that note, do you think that is enough leather? Should be about 16sqft total. Anyway, I'm debating on adding a fabric liner or not. Are there any tips on the best ways to go about adding a liner? Thanks, JC
  6. Hi all, This question may sound dumb depending on the answer, but I simply don't know and I'm trying to learn. Can I use leather sheen on the flesh side of leather?
  7. Hey all, new member and leather hobbyist here. This may be a very dumb question, but can I use super glue to bind edges of multiple layers of leather? I don't have a leather or saddle shop near me, so resources are limited to Hobby Lobby and online. Thanks, JC
