To resurrect an old thread, I have tooled W&C bridle leather successfully, because I'm new and didn't know you couldn't. But my question is if it will take an antique finish or not.

Thanks Dwight!

Have you actually done this with leather? Never thought of a router and wood chisel.

Thanks, it is for wallet type stuff, not heavy production. I think your answer was probably spot on for me.

I'm trying to figure out the technique for carving letters in a belt, with a contrasting leather underneath. I'm attaching a photo of what I'm trying to achieve. Thanks for the help.

I need to split 8-10 oz bridle leather down to about 3 oz. The widest strips would be 3-4 inches. Can someone recommend a descent bench splitter for me? Thanks!

What thickness of leather will it sew? I'm thinking of getting one.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm thinking of buying a hand crank sidewall stitcher from Robin Industries. I'd like to know if the sidewall sticher can be used as an insole stitcher? I don't think the other way around will work. Hockeymender, how has your machine been working. I already have a shoe patcher, and it works as expected.
