  1. Just trying to get some comparative pricing.. Anyone know what brand this is?
  2. Mop n Glo did the trick.. Was a bit worried it would change the look of the leather (and finish) but all is good.. I actually had a hard time finding it as the walmarts reported to have it in inventory via the app but did not. They carried Orange n Glow which I was afraid to use. Fond the Mop n Glow at Ace Hardware.. Anyway, thanks for the help..
  3. Kinda off topic but leather related. I noticed that the thread on my leather armrest in my car is fraying I would guess from my jeans rubbing against it. The armrest is leather and is sewn along the edge. If it frays much more, I think the leather will start coming apart. Is there something liquid that I could put on it to stop it from fraying anymore? I was thinking about a few drops of superglue. The thread is black so not real worried about it changing color. Just want to stop the fraying without it looking real bad.
  4. they aren't dyed or antiqued..
  5. Whats good to coat coasters so they don't get watermarks all over them? Not wanting to discolor them but need something to keep them looking nice..
  6. Is there a punch for a thumb slide for a card wallet?
  7. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/plugghaest-desk-pad-patterned-beige-clear-00473928/ This one?
  8. are you guys glue'ing the patterns on the dollar store "Cutting Board" or just cutting out where you can see through it?
  9. I ordered 2 of these to sharpen my tools https://www.amazon.com/AMAZSHARK-Leather-Strop/dp/B07X2RKD5R?ref_=ast_sto_dp 1 of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XRRXRWQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1 of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CGM89I0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 just realized I am a bit confused.. I was going to contact cement them to a board but after watching youtube videos. some people use the shiny side and some people use the rough side. should I leave it loose to be able to use both sides or should I glue it to a board/paddle for ease of use. Not sure what side of the leather (or both) I should be using to sharpen my tools. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. I saw some youtube video's where the guy used some sort of contact cement to temporally attach the patterns to the leather. I think it was GS Bond which you can't get here and he only put the glue on the paper pattern. I have also seen pattern glue such as this: https://www.amazon.com/June-Tailor-JT-443-Temporary-8-2-Ounce/dp/B00KHFJG0S. I saw some woodworking guys using the 3M spray like the glue on postit notes. I like the idea of putting the glue on with a spreader vs spraying it. Anyone have a suggestion on putting a pattern on leather without residue when you pull it off?
  11. finishing up some leather bags and wanted to describe the spec's.. Looking for a decent weight scale and thickness gauge. I saw prices for a thickness gauge ranging from $13 to $50 on Amazon. Just curious if anyone had any luck with the cheaper ones..
  12. wish I could afford it ..
  13. I have been looking at leather aprons and looking for ideas. Pockets, buckles.. Just curious what people like.. lots of them out there and been reading reviews..
  14. What I am looking for is card board like a cigar box thickness.. I think its called duplex paperboard..
  15. I get all the points.. Wasn't trying to stir a hornets nest of reactions nor was I trying to copy or mis-represent others work as my own. I saw the rolls of leather and pictures of leather on a sewing machine in the stock images and just thought I could do it a different way. I'll do this myself.. Put up a light box for product pictures..
  16. My grandad had on old jewelry box from the 50's I have had for a long time. Its old and tattered, pealing back the leather wrap, I see its a heavy cardboard type construction. Any clue what could be used to duplicate this prior to wrapping it? The box and lid construction is a nonflexible cardboard like material. I don't think its a masonite type material so just curious what others think could be used to construct something like this..
  17. As I said in the earlier post, not trying to steal work, patterns or credit for any work that is being done. I just needed some imagery like leather on a sewing machine. I'm no good with photography and really don't have the work bench area that presents well. The person helping me with website was going to pull some pic's from Adobe Stock images and I thought I would ask here.. Guess I viewed it different as I am not looking for product pictures. That will be the actual bags.. Anyway, sorry I asked..
  18. I just need some imagery pics.. the website person was looking for workbench type pictures in adobe stock images so I thought I would ask here if anyone has ones they were ok with sharing.. If its a problem or viewed as not cool, I apologize. The photos of the products are of the actual products I am selling..
  19. I am working on a website/shopify site and need some photography of work areas with tools, work areas, leather being hand sewn, leather in a sewing machine, etc.. My stuff is just nice enough for photography.. If anyone could snap a few pictures or have something, would greatly appreciate it. I have someone helping me with my site and need some marketing pictures and would greatly appreciate some help. Cool work benches (mine is a mess).. just looking for some pictures (higher resolution preferred) and permission to use. Trying to stay away from stock images.. We have decent photoshop skills and clean up if needed.. if you have something, you can email me: todd at toddwallace dot us (that is a .us domain)
  20. I ended up ordering on Etsy. I appreciate all the responses..
  21. I see the ETSY vendors in my google searches but most seem to be Asian companies with some in a language my Chrome has a tough time translating. Its a very specific Hermes inspired bag I am wanting to make and have seen/felt the Hermes bag in person. According to Haas, EPSON is reserved for Hermes but they sell to others under the product name Derby. Not sure if there are fakes of the leather or lesser quality but have spent the morning emailing about everyone I can. Sent email to the various leather suppliers mentioned on this site as well as the ETSY vendors. It is pricy which I am ok with as long as I don't have to buy "huge" quantities. I am ok buying more than I need as I think I will use it for other projects.. Just don't want to have to buy 750 sq ft of it. If I found it in the right quantities and the price was somewhat reasonable, I would be interested in buying a brown as well. Anyway, appreciate the quick response!! Waiting for other to respond as well to see if there is someone I have not found yet..
  22. I have been searching high and low for some black EPSOM/DERBY leather from Haas. Spoke to them directly and they have a 750sq ft minimum and 3 - 4 months. They suggested I go to Rocky Mountain which does not have it. I emailed a few others that came back from Google searches. All roads lead to a dead end.. The pattern I am building from calls for: 2.0mm leather about 7 sq.ft 1.5mm leather about 1 sq.ft 1.0mm leather about 3 sq.ft which is a briefcase. I do want enough to build some stuff out of left-over.. wallet, watch bands, etc. Anyone have any suggestions where I can get it. Might settle for Brown or Gold if that is all that a company has but do particularly like the leather. I am also told there are a few other tanneries that have this, but really afraid it would be different enough to bug me. Thoughts or help??
