Hello Friends, I have myself in a jam!. I got some purple eco dye from my local supplier and I used it on a belt awhile back in some local areas on the belt it looked just fine, Here is the problem, I used it to color a small hand bag for a young lady and it looks like FAILURE to say the least!. I applied it with a wool dawber in a circular motion and you can see every swirl, over lap and so on, Prior to applying finish I used a de glasser Can I get this off? Can I wipe it down what are my options? Thanks Bo

I have been using the Batwing/Shotgun pattern from Tandy, I would most likely modify the tops to resemble jeans as the Batwing style ride a bit lower and feel at times like they are sliding south. I like the batwings style because it doesn't feel like you have a ton of fabric wrapped aropund your belly,,All the best, Bo

if you have a plastic supplier near you what will work just fine is high density polyethelene is the same material that make a gallon milk jug, in the fiberglass word I use it for flat molding surfaces , its cheap, flat, and strong depending on the thickness needed

blending tones
bigorange replied to bigorange's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
Hi Kate, After tooling I de-glazed the leather, I layed down the tiger stripe pattern in dark tan. then shot it with yellow, complete. I thined red and added some yellow to get the burnt orange tone and went arount the edge, a little beyond the tooled border, and finally shot the edge with mahogany, all are fiebings alcohol dye, finished off with leather balm atomic wax. I used an Iwata hp-c airbrush with about 35-40 psi of air so not to send any globs of dy just a well atomized mist. the tiger stripe would have looked better black. as a houskeeping effort I drew all the dye I used with hobby syringes this cuts down on the mess one can make with this kind of thing. and I used a medication dose cup for mixing Give it a try as I would like to hear what you think All the best Bo -
