Just received my first order from Springfield Leather. I have heard mixed reviews about them so I ordered a small quantity of 6sf of Hermann Oak Leather (Shoulder, singles). (http://springfieldleather.com/30417/Shoulder%2CSingle%2CH-O%2C3-4oz/) Their customer service was friendly but the quality I received was unacceptable. Please see attached pictures for their imperfections . (I took the pictures in different rooms so the lighting is different) Maybe I was just unlucky. But that does not justify what I received. You have been warned... stasaki

Just a work in progress, nearly done. Changed my stitching method, took a bit to get used to it, so some stitches not so perfect... YinTx© YinTx

A very close up image of a recent belt, using Campbell's Satin Laid Linen thread. Vinegaroon dye. I like the color combo on this one, I may make one for myself! YinTx© YinTx

A bit rusty with my stitching, and having to use the clamshells without the rest of the stitching horse, so weird angles when I'm stitching, but happy to say it'll be a useable belt at the end of the day! Still need to trim the thread ends and tap the stitches down, then punch the holes, and ship off as a gift, in plenty of time for Christmas, heck even Thanksgiving! YinTx© YinTx

Pretty excited to finally get to make something after being away so long. My aunt had requested a new checkbook cover, she didn't want anything fancy, so I hope she enjoys this one. I am clearly out of practice on my hand stitching, but other than that and a few small errors here and there (forgot to burnish the pen holder edges before I stitched it up---Aaargh!) I think it still turned out ok. Open to suggestions for improvements, as I think I'll make a similar one for myself. Please let me know what ya'll think! Thank you! I will put more photos in the gallery: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&album=2662 YinTx

Hey guys, finished up another color combo of my military inspired weekender duffle bag. Inspired by the Navy sea bag and an army duffle this weekender carry on is anything but the ordinary luggage. Selvage canvas from the esteemed White Oak factory of Cone Mills in North Carolina. Leather is veggy tanned Hermann Oak #1. The color combo came out really nice. Canvas is a warm grey, sort of in the "dogwood" range. Leather was undercoated in tan, then top coated in dark brown for a very deep brown with a hint of reddish tone to it. Does anyone else use 2 different colors when dying leather? Solid brass hardware, and hand saddle stitched with havana brown tiger thread 0.8 mm. Canvas is finished with an outer layer of otter wax. Top closure is an envelope style folded closure that has some range to fill it all the way up or not so much. Inside large pocket and "hanging" dopp YKK zip bag for personal items. Would love your input on the leather work, but overall style comments are welcomed too.

I have premium grade Hermann Oak Leather, vegetable tanned and dyed medium brown, that has been well stored for a few years for sale. I hesitate to ship it because of the added expense and I like people to see what they are buying in person. I am in Medford, Oregon, (Southwestern Oregon). Anyone out there interested in some great leather? Prices are negotiable and reasonable.
