Hi Everybody! I saw this pattern on Instagram a few weeks ago and absolutely had to make my own. It was a fun build and also doubles as a pandemic mask when I go grocery shopping. lol I started with a mix of Eco-flo dyes that I was just trying to get rid of. Then I went to do a little wet molding and didn't think about the water based dyes so i ended up having to redo the dye job. I think it came out better though! I tried to give it a "freshly burst from my chest" look. The pattern came from https://www.leatherhubpatterns.com/ if you give it a go I recommend using about 5-6oz leather for the tail, or skive down the "sides" that get stitched together. 7oz was a real pain to get it do do what I wanted.

Hello everyone, Brand new to leather craft here. I've barely scratched the surface (no pun intended) and I'm already addicted. My stamping is horrible but it was fun. I'm looking forward to practicing some hand stitching. I'm broke so im.buying tools slowly, but getting there. Thanks for the community!

Since Halloween is coming up, I thought I'd share my mask making tutorial. It of course is not the absolute word in mask making, but I thought it was a good introduction. Just follow the link: http://ranasp.deviantart.com/art/Leather-Mask-Making-Tutorial-41572623 and click on the image to make it larger. I'd welcome any thoughts on it as well.

I've been a busy bee creating my own little world for the past year. I just realized I haven't updated my albums in a long time and I've created so much! I am having some problems uploading all the images but I will be adding what I can to my albums.

It's been awhile since I've posted anything. I've been fairly busy though! There's always room to grow so I am eternally grateful for everyone's input! I've been creating a lot of masks lately. Here's just a few.

All handmade veg-tan leather mask. "Fire Wolf" is a half mask, painted after the carving, tooling and forming. I can custom make masks.

Hi everybody! So I finally finished a mask I was working on! It has some room for improvement but I really love it!
-
I just finished a large steampunk rhinoceros mask and wanted to share it with you all. It is made of 5-6 oz veg tan with cold cast aluminum metal parts. Best, Tom

After a few prototypes and studies I finally finished a complete, full-sized mask. Not completely satisfied with how poorly eco-flo super sheene performed blocking the brown hi-lite color stain in the white areas despite having applied 5 coats. Next time I'll try resolene.

I just finished making an owl mask for a friend of mine for her birthday. It's 4oz veg tanned, wet formed and dyed with Fiebings tan and painted over with Cova colour.

Hey everybody. Here is one of my recent projects that I did for Dia De Los Muertos. I really liked the way it turned out. I am open to critiques please! I posted it in critique my work but I didn't get any input as of yet.

I am working on making a full-face mask for use in bad weather on a motorcycle. I am having a problem figuring out how to add. Eye protection without ruining the masks aesthetic. The mask is skin tight and held on by a gas mask style strap system and has rectangular holes for the eyes and mouth. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Made a mask for my sister for her birthday. Wet formed the mask with some white glue in the water to make it set up harder then painted it and played with the airbrush a little.

Was just goofing off with this one. Used a jello mold. :D -
Ok so I found this picture years ago and always loved it! Do any of you professionals have any ideas on how to start on this? I'm still a novice and have never made a mask before. I have a feeling that after this one I will want to make more. I'm thinking super hero masks (wolverine, ironman, thore). I know some of these could be considered helmets also but I would love to try it out. Thanks in advance!

This mask was made for a client's former boss that rides and builds bobbers. His bike's name is "Rusty Mermaid" & has engraved scales on the tank. Here's the finsihed product of the "Rusty Mermaid" motorcycle mask.

Hand stitched with artificial sinew, this is the first of the new Plague Doctor masks. A huge upgrade to our original half-mask, this covers the entire face and has stitched and riveted lenses covering the eye sockets. Plague Doctor masks were worn in Medieval Europe by doctors who would place a pomander of fresh scented herbs and spices in the beak. The beliefs of the time were that disease spread through 'foul humours' - airborne contaminants - and that covering the face and breathing in the fresh herbs would prevent them from catching the plague. Unfortunately, though inevitably, many such doctors succumbed to the plagues they were attempting to treat.

Well, actually, there is a sixth one that I don't have a picture of. I just finished making a batch of five masks that I'm really pleased with. I can see a huge difference between them, and my earlier masks...even the one I made last month! I don't have pictures of the new masks yet. Most of them are flower-themed, so my partner-in-crime and I are going to do a photoshoot near flowers hopefully tomorrow if the weather cooperates and the filming they are doing in our neighborhood doesn't get in the way. Until then, I thought I would post my earlier masks! They're made from tooling leather of various weights, and most are painted with acrylics. (Sorry for my face in one of them; I don't have a picture of just the mask yet). Most of them were made for our yearly themed Halloween parties. It's not until this past month I've gotten into making them for Etsy. The Minotaur (2012): Knossos Bee (2012): Rose Sugar Skull (2013): Marigold Sugar Skull (2013): Icarus (2014):
