Hi! So im very new to both leatherwork and this forum. I'm having a bit of trouble with finishing a project. This is my first real thing I've made, so any tweaks I could do or hints would be very much appreciated. I need to finish the sides of it but don't know how I would do it. I've used 3.6mm thick leather for the whole thing and it will be used to strap onto a belt for work. I have got a 2mm leather that I want to use. Any ideas? Thanks!

So, say someone asks me for a case for an iPhone 7. I’m still using the 6, so how would one go about getting a blank or mold or really I dunno. I’m lost, nobody can run buy everything. So what do you guys do?

He'll fellow leather workers. I've been pottering with leather for a couple of years and have taught myself everything I get wrong! The wonders of you tube! Below is a selection of things I've done.

From the album: Leather and Wood
This is a iPhone 6 Plus wallet I made from "English Chestnut" oil tanned leather. The cover has two slots for cards and one for bills or notes. The phone holder I got for 2 bucks off the internet. It's clear so you only see the phone. Sorry about the reflection on the phone, it's the light hanging in the dining room. -

From the album: Second Project: Phone Slip Case
Finally made a phone case for myself. This one I am pretty happy with, it fits my Samsung Galaxy. Stitching is #7 Dixon iron, 0.8mm Cream Tiger Thread. Improved around the corners, but still needs work! YinTx© YinTx

From the album: Using new stitching irons on Cell Phone Case
Just finished an Iphone 6 phone case. Front view. First time using European style stitching irons. I think it came out better than some of my other stitching. YinTx© YinTx

Revisited the cell phone slip case with some experimenting. Using my new Osborne stitching irons and Blanchard awl with Osborne linen thread. First time I put all three together. Those 2.9mm long holes are really long, and I had issues getting the lay to be correct, but after more practice I have been able to get better stitching than this now. The color was also an experiment. YinTx© YinTx

This is the backside of the stitch, which I am not happy with. I seem to be having issues keeping these stitches even. Any suggestions?© YinTx

Second effort. Did not get too creative with the color, because I happen to like this one as is.© YinTx

This is the second project that I have ever done. I think the hand stitching is a bit better than the first project I started. Still had a little trouble going around the corners. Not sure if I would start from scratch with veg tan leather again, but I like the feel of it. I enjoy stitches, to me they are art when they are done right, so I like them to show really well, which is why I chose the heavy white thread on a dark background. I think most would prefer a black thread here, let me know. The color is one I came up with myself, let me know if you like it. Constructive criticism is always welcome, as I am trying to do this art well! YinTx
