Members Zack00 Posted July 12, 2022 Members Report Posted July 12, 2022 I want to make a gift like this to my friend. Who can tell me what kind of wood is better? I'm not a big professional, but I have a little co2 laser cutter and engraver machine for wood. I need a more convenient material to work with, and of course, to get a beautiful result. Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted July 12, 2022 Contributing Member Report Posted July 12, 2022 So many choices, but I'd suggest Walnut. But that would be for chip carving Quote
Members PastorBob Posted July 12, 2022 Members Report Posted July 12, 2022 Ash would be a good choice. Make sure it is a hardwood. Welcome to the forum from SW Missouri. Quote
Members Bert03241 Posted July 12, 2022 Members Report Posted July 12, 2022 White ash, Maple , a lighter colored wood would make the engraving stand out more. are you making the butt stock from scratch? Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted July 12, 2022 CFM Report Posted July 12, 2022 i would buy a plain gunstock from Boyds for the particular fire arm. Walnut is the wood of choice but they have laminates as well. 1 minute ago, chuck123wapati said: i would buy a plain gunstock from Boyds for the particular fire arm. CFM tsunkasapa Posted July 12, 2022 CFM Report Posted July 12, 2022 Either walnut or maple. And a second for Boyd's. They have a massive list of stocks. Quote
