Bit of a problem

Recommended Posts

I have sewn a seat cover and the lighter leather colour under the top colour is showing between the stitches, Does anyone have an idea what's happening here please. Picture attached it explains it better. Many thanks

I think it’s pretty easy to explain, and you kind of answered your own question, it’s top color. The holes are showing the leather including the layers below the top color.  You can re-dye the holes with a brush or the entire piece if you haven’t put a top coat/finish on it.

Check this needle type chart and see if you are using the needle for the effect you want:

https://www.groz-beckert.com/mm/media/en/web/pdf/Sewing_machine_needles_for_leather_and_technical_textiles.pdf

Because some needles deliberately slice the top leather to sink the thread into the leather.

And needle size and thread size also make a difference.
