Help identifying Consew Cylinder bed machine

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just picked up a Consew Cylinder bed machine. It is a compound needle feed machine. Can someone identify the model # of this machine?

Sadly I assumed that Consew could look up the model number using the serial #. After calling corporate today I was told that they cannot. What?

It has an oil reservoir on the top front which you can see in the photo below. The table top is solid with no oil pan or hole in it under the machine.

Also does anyone have a Stitch length position plate for this machine?

Thanks in Advance, Garric

Thanks to all who chimed in.

Yes, I thought it might be a 287 but I thought a 287 was a triple feed machine?

So would this be a 287RB-1?

Many Thanks All!

Someone at Juki told me (if I remember correctly) that some decades back Consew was sold and now it's just a shell of what it once was. Maybe records got discarded? Based on my experience trying to get parts from them, they seem to have little interest in helping their customers.

I believe your correct AlainaZ!  I sent Consew corporate an email Saturday with the serial number and photos. No response.

Before we bought the Consew we owned an older Pfaff. I contacted Pfaff and heard back the next day.

I'm not sure which model I have but the bobbin on the 287 spec sheet is way too large for the machine.

Thanks all for the input!

call Bob Kovar at Toledo Sewing.  He sells Consew and may be able to help you.

You didn't post the bobbin size, but if it's a large bobbin it would be a 287RB the B stand for large bobbin, the older 287's with a small bobbin & reverse were 287R.This looks like triple feed to me.
