Bored and no project ....

to work on , I just needed something to keep my hands busy a little while .  You know I am finding less and less stuff that CAN"T be made from leather :rofl:

Those type of switch plates have fallen out of fashion & demand here

They are not used as much here now, I just live in an older house .

I have watched him but not lately , don't tell me Mr. Gonzales  is making switch covers :lol:

I know it wouldn't be hard to take off the covers for templates but there's a very nice pattern pack from Weaver Leather I bought awhile back that has light switches, sets for two switches and electric cover outlets.  Lots of fun tooling.  I made a few to give away to some friends and family.  Sold a few, too.   .

Nice! I've never seen anything like it, but I imagine the leather working just like a plastic cover.

Incidentally, a few days ago I replaced a broken plastic hinge on a grooming box with a strip of leather...

@Klara When I was a young boy my Grandfather had a corn crib door with leather hinges , worked well best I remember .

 

@toxo Yes , I have seen that video and may have to try that .He  does awesome stuff !!!!

Yes, I got the idea from hinges I've seen in my old house. Man-made materials have replaced leather in many cases for many people, but there's no reason not to go "back" to leather...

I replaced the plastic hinges on a cooler with leather, still going strong 15+ years later.
