Flintlock shooting/hunting bag pattern?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I finally made it back here after way to long.

I got myself an flintlock musket and wonder if any here has a pattern laying around for a shooting/hunting bag around the fur trade era ???

@tsunkasapa

nice bags for sure

i have a truck for you that you might use

if you deem it worthy

Use bullets as concho type rivets

you have to only use these calibers because the end of case is wider than the sides

22

30/30

7.62x54 mmr.  Russian mosin nagant ammo

drill a hole on what ever you choose

that is the size of the sides of the brass case. The thickness of the template is 1/4”. Or adjust as needed

cut the brass, punch hole in leather

I use a acorn brass nut screwed onto a threaded bold to flare the case out

you will have to modify the angle of the acorn nut to get the desired flare

hammer flat after flaring

use fired shells

My friend Eric Van Alstine makes a bunch of the period bags. For some inspiration his Facebook is Eric VanAlstine and Instagram account is ironweed_leather.

You CAN use live primered rounds

you WILL pop one,  but the excitement factor is second to none

do not try this at home, this info is for educational purposes only

after you cut the round to desired length, squirts some oil or water into the case. let it sit s bit then carry on with your mad scientist business.

You should sell "A day with Frodo", The experience one could get following you around for a day would be priceless.
