Hi everybody.
My boss gave me the task to dial in the old fortuna bell skiver that wasn't in use for 10 years. Settings were all over the place but I got to the point where it will skive the leather that we will use. Only thing left is the ridge/edge at the end of the skive. I would like to have that a bit less. A more feathered skive.
Anyone can point me in the right directions?IMG_0151.jpeg.c4cc59ce33c26ed55a009344664b8978.jpeg

The knife may need to come forward a little but see what happens when you reduce the feed stone pressure about1/2 turn first. The adjuster right at the rear back.

Do you mean the one sticking out at the back (to the left in the picture)? That one is so tight I can't even turn it with help of pliers. On the side there are two knobs. The right one moves the feed stone up an down and the left one I have no idea what it does, can't see any change when turning that. IMG_0153.jpeg.8b60956220d1f570dea6a94b6a3f9135.jpeg

Jazznow, look at the pdf file I'm sending you. It is two pages of Italian FAV1,2 manual. It is the same machine as the FORTUNA with minor modifications. If you learn these pages, then you will understand how the old FORTUNA type skiver works.

This is very helpful.  Thank you.  First I've seen it recommended to angle the feed roller for a tapered skive.  Also, varying the distance between the foot and the bell according to the thickness of the leather.  Any chance you could provide the complete manual?  I have ordered a couple of FAV roller feet from Campbell-Randall that use the eccentric pin mentioned here.  Would like to read how FAV recommends using this adjustment.

Yes I can send them to you but the file is larger than 1.5Mb. I think email is easier.
