Members Littlef Posted May 2, 2024 Members Report Posted May 2, 2024 paint and dye won't mix. Oxblood makes a very dark - very pretty red at full strength. I used the search parameters on this forum, and found a prior thread: it said, "You can also make pink by diluting red about 10:1 with denatured alcohol. 90% Isopropyl will work just as well." I'm sure It'll take a bit of experimentation to get the shade you are looking for. Quote
Members SUP Posted May 2, 2024 Members Report Posted May 2, 2024 (edited) On veg tan leather, Fiebings Oxblood becomes a bilious pink. I tried a very diluted form - still a bilious pink. No idea why it's called Oxblood. I gave up trying to get a pink. Will watch here, I hope someone knows how to get a good pink on veg tan. @Littlef I did not get a red, I got a pink - a deep pink or a light pink. Maybe it was the leather. Beg tanned leather has various shades. Edited May 2, 2024 by SUP Quote

Normally I just use oxblood to mix with browns to bring out a reddish hue. Quote
Members DieselTech Posted May 3, 2024 Members Report Posted May 3, 2024 I think you got to mix some sort of light gray dye with a red dye to get a pink dye I believe. Can't remember where I saw this at, but I think it can be done. It might be mahogany & white dye mixed together to get pink. If not you could buy a panel of pink veg-tan leather. Quote
Members DieselTech Posted May 3, 2024 Members Report Posted May 3, 2024 I think it was on a Leather Element with Chuck Dorsett & I think it's oil dyes needed to make a pink dye. Quote
Members DJole Posted May 3, 2024 Members Report Posted May 3, 2024 Angelus dye has a Light Rose color. I've used it on veg tan, and it is pink. Quote
