Members PurpleBronc Posted August 22, 2024 Members Report Posted August 22, 2024 That is such a nice picture! Very cute face. How does the laser work for leather? Is it just printed on, or has it actually got depth to it, like tooling? Quote
Members dikman Posted August 22, 2024 Members Report Posted August 22, 2024 Very impressive! The gradation/shading is very effective. Quote

Different shades of Gray/Black gives you different amount of burning. Depth varies with power and speed of engrave. This one is engraved about .5mm in depth Quote

Members Brokenolmarine Posted September 3, 2024 Members Report Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) Really cool result. How big is that image, and long does the process take for that size? I'm interested, not thinking of buying a laser set up, my smart phone outwits me. Just curious about the process, and impressed. Edited September 3, 2024 by Brokenolmarine Quote
Members Brokenolmarine Posted September 3, 2024 Members Report Posted September 3, 2024 I could see all kinds of uses in my hobbies. Woodworking for leather inserts, knifemaking for lasered designs on the sheath. Would it burn the image in wood panels as well? Quote
Contributing Member Ferg Posted September 3, 2024 Author Contributing Member Report Posted September 3, 2024 There are many options available today. You should look into a Diode Laser of something no lower wattage than 5 and10W would be a good starter. You can engrave wood, cast acrylic, leather, and a number of others. Fairly steep learning curve but if you are determined and keep plugging away at experimenting etc. you will be greatly rewarded. Totally fascinating. 9 hours ago, Brokenolmarine said: Really cool result. How big is that image, and long does the process take for that size? Members Brokenolmarine Posted September 3, 2024 Members Report Posted September 3, 2024 Thanks Ferg, I missed the size when I read the original post. Old eyes or short memory, or both. As I said, I am impressed. Quote
