MadsH Report post Posted October 14 Hello I have a Barry King blade for swivelknife but the shank of the blade is too wide to fit in a 7/32 (5,55 mm ) swivelknife and I guess that is the standard size as that size is what I can find even though I once have seen a different size. The size of the B.K.blade shank is, as far as I can measure it, 6,2 mm. Sorry I am unable to figure out what that is in */* even I tried as an non-inches person :-) What size shank-space in the swivelknife am I looking for ? Help wanted requires moderator approval before members can see it. 6.3mm is 1/4" so 6.2mm is just slightly less allowing easy fit into a 1/4" hole. What brand of swivel knife are you trying to install a Barry King swivel knife blade? I got 4 swivel knives, I could measure them. But I think they are 7/32" or 5.5mm They do make swivel knives with smaller shank sizes, but I usually stray away from them. fredk Report post Posted October 14 6.2 mm to 5.55 mm is an easy reduction; less than 1 mm You can file the shank down by that much easily

That is a quick & efficient way to reduce shank size.
fredk Report post Posted October 14 I would use a #0 or bastard cut file Thats quicker than 'sand' paper

I just wanted to figure out what size I needed for the blade to fit in. it is not 7/32 as I already have 3 of those but what would it then be. I mean its a B.K. blade, surely there must be a swivelknife it fits into. 2 hours ago, fredk said: 6.2 mm to 5.55 mm is an easy reduction; less than 1 mm You can file the shank down by that much easily Yea I was thinking about it but I`d rather just buy a swivelknife that fits. Would save me the trouble thinking about the size of blade-shafts next time I am buying any kind of blade or beveler.

I take the Barry King blade is bigger diameter than a standard swivel knife. Your only option might be a Barry King swivel knife, Or modify your blade or modify your current swivel knife. You could also enlarge the bore in your swivel knife if you got the proper drill bit & a drill.
bruce johnson Report post Posted October 14 Barry also makes blades with a 7/32” shank. You could always just ask if you could exchange it.
Hildebrand Report post Posted October 14 (edited) I have a Barry King double blade and I put it in one of the Tandy Economy black rubber barrel swivel knife's with no issues. Todd oops- I didn't read @bruce johnson's post that Barry King also makes 7/32" diameter blade shanks before posting.
